50% rating,... for now! It looks like we'll need a tie-beaker visit for our final determination. Let me explain. So far, we went two times,... The First visit was right after they opened, and it was OUTSTANDING! They had elegant menu options, great food preparation and presentation, good service, fair prices, decent mixed drinks, an entertaining atmosphere, and friendly, attentive staff. No real complaints. However, the second time was a very pathetic NON-VISIT! To explain: it was Tuesday about 5pm. We came in and stood near the reception desk as there was no indication to wait to be seated or to seat ourselves, and there was no staff there to direct us. After a couple minutes, my wife waited there while I took the opportunity to visit the restroom. When I returned we continued to wait at the desk as we observed 4 or 5 staff coming and going to and from the kitchen and the bar area performing their various prep duties. One young girl, who we assumed was the receptionist, came past us to the desk for something and then returned to the bar / kitchen area at least twice, seeming slightly annoyed that we were in her way and she had to step around us,... but other than that she never acknowledged us. After a few more minutes waiting, my wife used the opportunity to use visit the restroom also. When my wife returned, we began somewhat loudly to discuss how many of the staff had been moving all around us, and had obviously seen us, but yet had completely ignored us,... and perhaps more importantly, WHY??? At this point, the receptionist went past and around us and was back at the desk performing some other menial task. We'd been there for a good 10 or 12 minutes by now, and I said to my wife, loudly enough to be obvious, "This is ridiculous, Let's get out of here!" As we turned and walked past the desk toward the door, the girl at the reception desk actually finally acknowledged us and said, "Have a nice day!" which was the ONLY time anyone even acknowledged us in any way,... Wow!...
Read moreFrank G’s is a new, really beautiful restaurant. The food and drinks were pretty reasonably priced and the staff was very, very nice.
Drinks: husband had 2 old fashioned and said they were good, nothing great. His rating: 6/10. I had the cherry jalapeño margarita and it also was good, however, the cherry “bits” that were in the drink wouldn’t allow me to drink it from the straw. My rating: 6/10.
Food: husband had the braised short rib and said it was fabulous. Potatoes were also seasoned very nicely, however the green beans needed about 5 minutes more to steam, as they were “hard”. His rating: 9/10. I had the shrimp and lemon basil penne. The sauce on the penne was so good! Lots of flavor and I especially loved that all of the vegetables were cut into small pieces. Really flavorful dish. My only complaint was the shrimp - they were like “mush”. I’d rather pay more money for less but fresh shrimp than to have mushy ones. My rating: 8/10. we shared the seasonal cheesecake and it was FABULOUS. It was a NY style and had great berry flavor. I wish they would’ve taken it out of the fridge for a few minutes so that the crust wasn’t so hard to break through, but otherwise it was really good. Our rating: 10/10. overall portions were very good too, had some left overs but nothing too much.
Waitress: I wish I remembered her name (she was an elderly woman) but had impeccable service. She was attentive but not overly attentive and was quick to bring our food/drinks/get refills/etc. she did notice that I didn’t eat the shrimp and was very apologetic when I had stated why. She was a great server!
Overall, we’ll be back! For it being their first week open, we had great service and pretty good food/drinks. Hoping to go once the weather gets nicer to sit outside.
Overall rating: 4/5 with some...
Read moreIt's not often that one comes across a dining establishment that leaves such an indelible mark on the culinary senses. But Frank G's, the new restaurant on the block, manages to do so with an ineffable style and grace.
I've had my fair share of Chicken Parmesan. A dish so often rehashed, it’s easy to forget that it can be more than a cliché of Italian-American cuisine. Frank G's, however, offers a refreshing take on this classic that is, without a shred of doubt, the best I've ever had.
The ambiance of Frank G's sets the stage for the culinary journey to come. But the star of the show is, without doubt, their Chicken Parmesan. The dish is a masterful symphony of flavors and textures that tantalizes the palate and leaves you yearning for more. The chicken is expertly breaded, the crisp exterior offering a delightful contrast to the tender, succulent meat within.
The sauce - a vibrant, soulful marinara - is a revelation in itself. Its vibrant, tangy flavor profile, bursting with the sweetness of ripe tomatoes and the earthiness of fresh herbs, is a testament to the kitchen's commitment to using top-tier ingredients. The genius of the dish lies in its balance - the sauce never overwhelms the chicken, but rather, complements it in a beautiful gastronomic harmony.
Accompanied by a side of al dente spaghetti tossed in a Parmesan Cream sauce, the Chicken Parmesan at Frank G's is a dish that manages to elevate simplicity into something extraordinary.
As a whole, Frank G's offers not just a meal, but an experience. It is, in my humble opinion, a must-visit for any food lover in the area. Bravo,...
