I have been going to Two Brothers for monthly board meetings for past couple years. Usually we just get drinks and all is good. This evening when our group was there a young man... assume an employee... was sitting on the food service counter/ prep area behind the counter, very unsanitary... While they were not currently preparing any food orders I will definitely think twice about ordering food here in the future.
Follow up on most recent visit on 6/11/19 Our board still insists on going here for our monthly meetings. They usually have at least 1 decent beer. (At our May meeting I was pleasantly surprised that they had a Brewery Becker beer on tap, nice!) Unfortunately, the staff is usually average at best when it comes to pouring a pint (or 20 oz if you order that). (ie: pouring a pint which is half foam, pouring that half out...back and forth for a couple minutes) At my visit last week, there were 2 young ladies working. They were now out of the Becker's beer, so I ordered their Shandy. The worker that was pouring filled a mug by opening the tap just a tiny bit so that the beer sprayed out into the glass. She told me that the system is set wrong, but the owner won't let them change anything...(as if she has any real knowledge on draft beer systems) She then got a spoon and a second mug. She used the spoon to scoop out the foam into that second mug. Then filled the first mug again...still mostly foam... intermittently she would use her hand to wipe down the foam from the side of the mug. After watching this for a couple minutes, I told her I did not want that pint she was pouring as she had used her bare hand to wipe down the foam/beer from the glass multiple times. She told me, "don't worry, I am going to pour your beer into a new glass when i am finished!" Ha, outstanding!! I then asked for a refund on the beer and went to the back table for our 2 hour...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this establishment for the past few years and I’ve loved it every time, my coffee was always made correctly and any of the girls working the register were great! But today made me decide not to return. It’s late April and about 50-55 degrees, actually a warmer day for us and I’d decided to grab lunch with a girlfriend of mine. We walked in and it was freezing. So much so that I would have rather eaten outside but outside seating is not set up yet. I immediately said something to the girl behind the register and she also was freezing. Every customer had their jackets on as well so it wasn’t just us. The girl behind the counter responded by getting the cook/manager Ian. He responded with it’s not freezing because freezing is technically 32 degrees and it was 67 degrees inside. He then asked if we wanted him to shut the doors in an irritated tone so I said no to avoid an argument. He then responded with, “then why are you bitching?” He was a past customer of mine, so we know each other outside of his workplace, but I don’t find that to be any excuse. I even made accommodations for him individually, regarding the same matter!! I was going to be a paying customer, but not when the management is so argumentative about a simple request. I recommend people take their business elsewhere, like to Tim Hortons...
Read moreI moved to Michigan from New Haven County, CT about 17 years ago. I spent the first 16 years complaining about the pizza in the towns I have lived in. Captain's changes everything. The thin-crust style is perfect for my taste and the slightly crunchy/chewy texture has only improved since we have been going. Impressive work and an impressive amount of pizza produced out of one wood-fired oven. I also commend them on the quality of ingredients, which go above and beyond what you usually find at local pizza spots. The focus on a few delicious, specialty pizzas works well as it directs costumers like myself to what they view as their signature pies (but you can always get your classic toppings). Even my two-year-old son loves the truffle shuffle and we tend to stop in every couple of weeks to enjoy a few slices. The drink options (beer, soda, and coffee alike) are also a step above what you often find in the area. Beyond that, the staff are friendly and accommodating. I hope Captain's remains a Brighton mainstay until they decide it's time to hang up the apron and retire. My only question; how are they going to fit a second oven in there once the...
