Would give zero stars if possible. I'm always looking to go someplace different for dinner on Friday night and Cesare's was recommended. I checked out the website, their story and menu and thought it would be a good choice, despite the 25 minute drive time. At 5pm I headed over with my husband and father. Getting into the parking lot was a hassle because what looks like the entrance on the main road is one way so you have to find your way to the back of the building on the next road over. You enter the restaurant from the back of the property and walk up a ramp (or the stairs) and enter into a tiny take out area. After squeezing by the 3 customers waiting for their take out orders, there is a door to the dining room. I walked in to find there isn't a hostess stand and it isn't obvious if you are supposed to wait or just seat yourself. Didn't matter though because almost immediately, one man practically ran out from the take-out ktichen and another came over from inside the dining room to tell us that we could not come in because my father was wearing a sleeveless shirt! It was actually a nice shirt (not a tank/tee) and he had on dress shorts). It did not matter that I was also wearing sleeveless as well as other women already seated at tables. Seriously?!? This is not a fancy restaurant and it is located several blocks from the beautiful waterfront. The building is old and the inside matches. We ended up going back into town and had an amazing dinner at El Limon, which I highly recommend if you enjoy Mexican food, but that will be a separate review :) As a side note....A week ago we went to the King George Inn for dinner. That is a beautiful, high end restaurant in a historic building overlooking the Delaware River. They did not care that my father had on a...
Read moreMy best friend and I visited this restaurant on Saturday. It had been raining all day and we were freezing. We walked into the dining room and everything was so warm and welcoming.
We started with the Cream of Spinach Soup which was delicious. We followed with Clams Casino which were tasty. I just wish there was more clams. Everything was chopped very finely so I was unable to discern the clams from the other ingredients. The salads were simple with a fresh assortment of baby greens. I had the house balsamic which was delicious.
The entrees were served and the portions were artfully presented and quite generous. I had the Vodka Rigatoni and added chicken. My friend had the Zuppa ala Vongole. The Vodka rig was amazing, it always is... I had it again yesterday and again today for lunch. I just finished the remainder in my PJS, in the kitchen...cold. Soooo good! The sauce is amazing, creamy and rich with plenty of it. The chicken was nicely cooked, tender and juicy, I order it EVERY time I go. Totally serious...I've never been able to recreate the dish in my own kitchen and would kill for the recipe. The Zuppa was gorgous. It was served in a shallow bowl and contained a beautiful broth and a huge portion of littleneck clams in the shell. Her only criticism was that it was overly spicy. When she finished eating, the broth had quite a lot of red pepper left.
I have been going to Caesars for 23 years for a reason. The server was attentive and paid close attention to specific requests. The owner/manager was warm and thanked us for our patronage. He walked around the dining room in his suit and stopped (sometimes even sat) with customers.
I loved the old time photos, the fast friendly service and the consistency of the food. It's just great, always....
Read moreI ordered a white pizza last night because previous purchases of white pizza have been phenomenal from there and have remained my favorite for some years now but not this time. Over cooked crust and very dry(similar to holding a piece of cardboard), cheese burnt probably because there was so very little on it to begin with, the crust was 1/3 of the pie itself for one example. My daughter ended up eating something else cause she couldn't eat it and she loves white pizza so that's telling you something and luckily I ordered cheese fries that filled me up otherwise I woulda had to find something else to eat as well. Even the cheese fries sucked, they use steak cut fries that take up the whole container so there was maybe 15 fries where half of those had no cheese on it cause it was all on the top 6 fries. So for 12$ for a white pizza where I've had garlic bread with more cheese on it than that and 4$ for a handful of fries with a dash of some cheese sprinkled on top I was not only disappointed in the quality but I felt robbed. Even today as I heated up the remaining 3 pieces from last night I had to give it to my dog it was that tough to bite into and dry. It was probably one of the worst dinners I...
