White's Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Brockton

I love White’s Bakery. It is my go to bakery for parties and birthdays. However, I was appalled to see not a single employee wearing a mask when I left my house during the state wide COVID-19 quarantine to go to the bakery to get some cupcakes and croissants for my children. There were about seven or so employees at the store when I went on Friday, April 17, 2020. This was in the middle of COVID-19 quarantine. Masks were advised by the CDC when leaving house. Brockton, where this bakery is located, had over 1,200 cases and almost 50 deaths at that time. ALL customers at the store wore masks and NONE of the employees handling open products at the bakery were masks. Even at grocery stores, employees wear masks. I just don’t understand why management made a decision not requiring the bakery employees to wear masks when handling open to air bakery products. This made me suspect that none of the people to make cupcakes and other products wear masks so all products are exposed to potential COVID-19 that employees may have, including unsystematic ones. Thinking about that made me feel like the owner completely disregards safety of the customers and that made me mad. Another fact was that bakery employees were putting on gloves but handling other items such as picking up phones and touching other items and then going back touching cupcakes etc. while preparing customer orders. This is an easy thing to fix and I hope management does it because the bakery is...

I bought a STRAWBERRY SHORT CAKE for my birthday. I was not impressed.

*PRO The cake was lightly sweet (which was nice) and the frosting is more of a whip cream ( also nice). The inside of the establishment was very nice, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Parking was no issue. Customer service was standard.

*CON However, the strawberries in the cake tasted like they were from a can. Also, it was almost like the strawberries were just slapped in a cake..…like the strawberries didn’t actually blend well with the cake…..almost like I was eating two separate things slapped together, so the taste wasn’t very cohesive (basically plain white cake with canned strawberries on top, if that makes sense). I was expecting the actual cake to be flavored with strawberry or something else, but it wasn’t (at least I could not taste it at all). The cake wasn't particularly moist either; I would recommend heating the cake up for a few seconds to get the canned-strawberries-juices and icing to flavor and soften the cake. The price ($38) would have been fair for a bakery cake, but again the actual cake was very underwhelming and I was **not impressed. I’d give it a 5.5---6 out of 10. I would not repurchase or recommend that...

Mother's Day Weekend - and I'm a new customer that lives about 35 mintes away ... I called with LOTS of questions! The young lady that answered was VERY friendly and SUPER helpful, and they were busy, but she never once rushed me! She answered my questions - gave me details on the cakes/treats I asked about - no problem! She took my order, and my payment, and told me to call when we arrived for curbside pick-up!

We get there - again they are busy - but the girls running out the curb-side were friendly and prompt!

Chocolate Mousse Cake - 10 STARS! This is delicious! So light - yet rich! The oreo(?) crust was AMAZING! Heath Bar Cheesecake - by the slice which was a welcome surprise - equally as delicious! It was creamy but had the subtle crunch of the heath bar! AMAZING Mother's Day desserts to say the least!

I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff almost as much as the deliciousness of the desserts! Thanks so much White's Bakery - WE'LL BE...
