I am happy to report Bison Steakhouse lived up to all the hype. I seldom splurge for a steak dinner as I prefer to just do it myself, but today was a special occasion, gorgeous weather and I wanted to really experience it for myself.

First thing I noticed was the familiar floorplan and I couldn’t put my finger it. Turns out it was a prior Applebee’s before hand, so that is a good indication of the atmosphere for the restaurant. They have made a few changes, but almost completely cosmetic touch ups and decorations.

I was immediately greeted, and not just with as scripted monotone “Hello, Welcome to Bison Steakhouse.” The hostess smiled, made eye contact and seemed genuinely happy I was there. She seated me immediately and took my drink order as well. I make it a point to notice tables and booths are clean and set if empty, and everyone of them were.

My server picked up where the hostess left off in customer service when she arrived with my drink and dinner rolls. She asked if I had any questions about the menu, then left me to make my decision. The menu was surprisingly limited based on reading prior reviews and reports from friends, yet a decent selection to choose from. Within in moments of closing the menu she reappeared to take my order. She didn’t really have to ask many questions as I was prepared to order, but she was upbeat without being “flirtiously bubbly” which to me is a great trademark of server customer service.

My meal arrived hot, visually appealing and in the expected time alignment of my ordered desired steak preference. She didn’t hover to see if I would immediately cut into my steak to check my preference was satisfactory, which I greatly appreciated. Shortly after a few bites she did return to confirm my steak was cooked to my preference, and it was exactly as I ordered and preferred.

I went with the 14oz Ribeye, loaded backed potato and green beans. With the exception to salting the green beans to taste, the entire meal was very good and full of flavor. While dining I was happy to see new customers where not set immediately adjacent to a seated table, but staggered to minimize noise and promote privacy, again another trademark of good customer service. Although I didn’t need anything during my meal, my server kept an eye on me while attending her other customers, picking up on my satisfaction without having to stop and ask every time she passed.

Shortly after finishing my meal, she returned to offer to clear my table and offer to place anything to go if needed. She returned shortly with my check, which was correct and straight forward. I’m not a stingy tipper normally, but do tip proportional to the service and quality. She received a more than generous tip as she was refreshingly pleasant, professional and sincere. I will dine here again, just based on her service alone.

Parking was an open free parking lot with more than ample parking for the size of the restaurant. Handicapped ramps were available on both sides leading to the entrance. I was seated where I was able to witness the hostess leave her station (on multiple occasions) to open the doors for older and mobility challenged customers arriving and leaving. The grounds of and around the restaurant were average, but noticed the landscaping was in need of some attention as did the...

So I was really excited to try this place, I’ve seen all the hype and Read all of these awesome reviews had all these amazing pictures of the food. But I kept hesitating to try it because, even though the reviews look great on Google, when you go to yelp or to Facebook, There was definitely a trend of not great reviews and post. But this is a small business, and I like to support small businesses! so the opportunity tonight gave us a chance to try them out. We ordered Our food for pick up, That was my first mistake. The food wasn’t packaged properly, It was jammed all into two bags, and no matter how much propping up hubby did protect the food, it was going to end in disaster. When my husband went to make a turn out of the parking lot, The food spilled. And for some reason, the person at the restaurant, the package this meal, thought it was really smart to put the steaks on top of the dessert -so my steak juices leaked into my dessert

We ordered steaks, and I’ve never had a dry chewy steak from a place that calls themselves a steakhouse. It was pretty terrible.

The portions weren’t very big either, That’s a big thing that you’ll notice through a lot of these reviews, how big the portions were. For $21.99 -I got less than a half a cup of mashed potatoes, a half a cup of fried corn and an 8oz over cooked steak. The corn was good, my husband said his steak was decent. But the weird part about this whole thing, was how cold our food was. I get that it was a pick up order, but nothing was lukewarm, It was cold, To the point where I had to warm up the side dishes in the microwave.

It has potential, They has some good sides like The loaded, baked potato, the rolls, the corn(It’s not fire roasted by the way), and it might be an off night. But I don’t think I would recommend this place to anybody. I don’t know if all of these reviews that are on Google are true customer reviews. Pictures of some of these five star reviews, don’t even match the pictures that are on DoorDash or the Facebook post. That’s why I’m starting to question some of it.

Hopefully, the desserts...

Visited on a Friday night approx 6ish, we had a 40-minute wait. It's not too bad for the time and day. Did not have anything like take your number and will text, though, which may have been one of the reasons some of the patrons turned away since it was packed in the waiting area. We were seated in the bar area at a hightop, and our waitress was prompt to greet us....I believe Elaina was her name. She took our drinks and we ordered an appetizer. Drinks came quickly, and my beer was in a frosted, very cold mug, which was nice. The appetizer never came, but dinner rolls were brought out. They reminded me of the type you would get at Texas Roadhouse.....almost. the rolls were hot and fresh, which was nice.

Husband ordered a ribeye med rare with mash potatoes and corn. Elaina suggested gravy and was happy to add for his meal. I ordered a ribeye rare with a ceasar salad and Brussel sprouts. The food came out hot, the salad came out before the meal. I felt like the dressing was a bit too heavy for the size of salad but did like the slices of parm instead of shreaded. The hubs enjoyed his steak even if it was a bit too salty as was mine with the salt. It was cooked just right (so was mine) and he would say his cut of meat was a better cut than choice, mine felt like a choice piece. The sprouts had a sweet flavor with a sauce on them that I didn't care for, it didn't mention that on the menu. The steak was a little heavy fatty pieces so there was a lot to cut around.

In the end the ticket came out and the appetizer was on it and when we mentioned that we didn't get it (which was actually okay since we were so full from everything else) they quickly removed and apologized which I didn't think anything of it. I would say the miss of the app isn't part of any rating of this establishment but more the food itself. I understand that they have only been open for a few months, so hopefully, they will take constructive criticism and adjust to only enhance their experience. Overall, the food wouldn't bring us back immediately, but if it hangs around, we might give it another go in...

This place is amazing! We went in without high hopes considering the previous tenants but left very impressed. I believe if the quality of food and service we received continues, then this restaurant should do well for many years here. I wasn't mind blown, but I would choose this business over any chain steak house in the Tulsa metro area. They have coop F5 as one of many great beer options on tap with additional bottles to choose from. The staff was awesome and really contributed to our excellent experience. The food portions are like 2 meals for the price of one and the quality seems above standard. We had to wait a few minutes before eating because the food came out hot and fresh even with the high volume of patrons dining in. Overall, I am more than pleased, and I highly recommend the Sirloin and grilled shrimp dinner. The chicken fried chicken was also amazing, and all the sides we selected were great. You won't find a better experience for this value anywhere in town. I've lived in BA for over 30yrs and support all the great local businesses and haven't been more impressed than this experience. If I had to get real picky, then I wouldn't get the steak fries again. They were hot and fresh but on the soggy side. The mashed potatoes are top-notch and a great alternative for next time.
