Deeply disappointed — would not recommend. I should add, I’m not someone who likes to leave negative reviews. I love to support small businesses but I feel like this is my last resort.
After reaching out to Laurennae on multiple occasions attempting to receive an adequate apology and total refund, I figured it was time to leave a review detailing my experience.
For our wedding, we ordered two cakes. One of which was specifically requested to be gluten-free due to my mother’s severe gluten allergy. This wasn’t a casual preference, it was an incredibly important dietary request so that my mom could enjoy cake at my wedding without becoming extremely ill.
Despite communicating this clearly, neither cake was labeled gluten-free on the wedding day, and we later discovered that neither had been made gluten-free at all. As a result, my mom was unable to eat any cake at my wedding. For those who relate to having dietary restrictions and/or severe allergies, I am sure you can understand the hurt and disappointment in this huge mistake.
When my wedding planner followed up, we were offered only a small partial refund that essentially covered the cost of the macarons. While the cakes were beautifully decorated and tasted fine, this oversight demonstrated a concerning lack of sensitivity and care. However, the lack of accountability, considering the potential health risks involved, is what I find to be the most concerning.
After reaching out again to explain how serious the mistake was and how poorly it was handled, I received a generic and dismissive response saying a refund had been issued (it hadn’t been until I followed up months later), with no ownership or sincere apology.
I would not recommend Laurannae to anyone, especially if you have dietary needs or expect professionalism and follow-through. A beautiful product means nothing if a company fails to take responsibility for serious mistakes and treat customers with care and respect.
As I reflect back on our wedding day, there isn’t much that could take away from what an incredible day it was. It’s easy to forget the hiccups in schedule, colors, etc., because those little things didn’t take away from the day. However, it remains deeply disappointing and painful to reflect back on my mom being unable to celebrate my marriage with a cake that was supposed to be carefully made to meet her needs. I’d only wished there had been someone who’d reached out to me personally to make...
Read morei used to really love laurannae but i didn't have a great experience today. that being said, it was a busy saturday so i understand it being slammed.
broccoli ham and cheddar quiche and orange cardamom loaf was fabulous as expected and i love that everything is baked in house. my coffee (vietnamese iced coffee) was also yummy when i got it, but the guy making drinks kept pulling stickers from the queue while already behind and lowkey was skipping my drink to make hot lattes. he was absolutely swamped in stickers with other people in the back and no one coming to give him a hand. i was also disappointed to see that a place that bakes all of their pastries uses canned whip cream on their beverages.
a lady also took my new, fresh quiche and left me her sad, old one while i waited for my drinks in front of the hand off after she was not paying attention to her name being called which was pretty disappointing. i wish there were stickers for dine in plates with names or that they called them out louder when the cafe is loud and busy. by the time my drink was ready my food had gotten cold and there were only spoons to eat your dine in food with.
i was already pretty frustrated with my experience at this point and tried to settle down to read and chill but i kept dropping loaf in my lap due to the spoon-only situation and the place was overrun by people's loose kids that were so loud i could hear them over white noise in my headphones.
again, i understand it's the weekend and people are out and about and it was busy but my evening was not as chill as i would've hoped and experienced previously from...
Read moreTried this bakery before and their other items. I liked the cake designs on their website so I ordered a cake for my Dad’s 60th birthday.
Pros: Usually nice/polite people. Beautiful little bakery.
Cons: Pickup: It was raining and the lady handed me the cake box with the top left open (due to the decorations). I had to send back twice so they’d understand I needed the opening covered with something. Taste: The entire cake was way too sweet (cake, icing, and filling) and very dense. I was told their cakes were “sweeter” when I ordered and was offered less icing. However, none of us could eat more than a couple bites—even the ones who love sweets.
As other reviews have stated: no masks. It’s 2021. I read their response to a review and I understand wanting people to feel comfortable and have a choice. I prefer supporting businesses that care enough about my safety (and by extension—the safety of my family) to have their own mask policies even if not mandated to do so.
Update: still 1 star Customer Service - 1/5 As they suggested, I emailed them on the same day they responded to my post. No response since and it’s been over a month. In contrast, their response to emailed inquiries for placing an order and their response to my review were very quick. I literally threw money into the trash, but at least now I know this place is not for me. There are other options out there with better customer service and better food. I know Laurannae Baking Co. won’t be bothered by this review because they didn’t care about me as a customer. They did care about defending every little point made in a...
