Not a good experience. We weren't greeted. We eventually were abruptly approached by a young woman with dark purple hair. She quickly asked how many, grabbed us menus, and just as abruptly... Stormed away to a table.
We weren't sure if we were supposed to follow or not. We ended up walking over to the table just in time to see her, throw the menus on the table and run away.
About 10 minutes later... Yes, we sat there not greeted and without drinks for about 10 minutes before she came back and got our drink order. Still frazzled, still no greeting, no "welcome to the restaurant", "how are you this evening", or anything. Very cold.
A few minutes later while she was getting our drinks together, another young lady approached our table. This young lady was nice. She did not know our drink quarter had already been taken and said that she would go make sure that they came out quickly.
The nice young lady took our order and things started to look up. The food came and was fine but that was the last we saw of her. No one checked on us after our food arrived. We were completely done with our meal by the time a nice young man came up and asked if he could refill my water glass. We never saw our nice waitress again until she came and asked if we were ready for our ticket.
The food was fine. Probably would have tasted better if we were better taken care of. I think weight staff needs to remember that people don't just go out to eat for the food or for the convenience... But for the experience.
This was not a positive experience. This was supposed to be a meal to celebrate my wife and I's wedding the day before. We wanted to take the kids out, decompress, and just enjoy each other's company. In the end we found ourselves feeling unwanted and unnoticed most of the evening.
Again, our waitress, and the gentleman who refilled my water were both kind. But not checking on us after the food arrived or during the meal at all, is unacceptable. We needed things. My kids wanted more ranch, I needed a refill, a few more napkins would have been nice...
The sad thing is, this was me giving this restaurant a second chance. I came in last year and had a different but also negative experience. Our waiter continued to forget everything we asked for over and over again.
In the end I think this comes down to management and training. Too many people made too many mistakes on...
Read moreRusso’s opened in 2021 at the peak of the life sucking, business destroying, world changing pandemic. At the time life had become curb service, order on line, gallons of hand sanitizer and terrified humanity hiding behind blue masks. Our world has changed. Our society has been indelibly scarred; the prospect of normalcy still seems distant. I remember the appearance of Russo’s new building that mistakenly impressed me as a stuffy high end Italian food joint. Not my kind of place. Aversion to people packed restaurants then (and now) and the fact that I really am not a fan of Italian food made it easy to ignore. Out of curiosity this week, I got online and checked Russo’s menu. Right now, my wife and I are setting in a comfortable booth, waiting for a Chicken Rustica pizza! Yeah well, I will eat a Pizza now and then.
In Broken Arrow there really are only three, maybe four legitimate dine in pizza restaurants. I think all but one claims to be “New York” style pizza. Who cares! A pizza is a pizza. One restaurant is a prominent well-known, Oklahoma based, college town original. I have tried them all. The attractive décor, the dining environment and the service, sets Russo’s apart from the others. Russo’s is a nice comfortable restaurant with superb service. Russo’s is easy to get to. Unlike downtown Broken Arrow; Russo’s has ample easy access parking and you don’t have to navigate the traffic congestion at malfunction junction (Lynn Lane between the BA expressway and Kenosha.) The restaurant is just down the street from the Regal -Warren Theater. Convenient. Pizza and a movie!
According to my receipt, our waiter today was Kara C. Great service, delivered with pride and ownership. She must be a manager or owner. Anyway, the service was great! The restaurant starts your meal with a complimentary Italian style appetizer; the equivalent, of chips and salsa. Toasted squares of seasoned pizza crust and a seasoned olive oil dipping sauce. This alone was enough for a meal. Our choice, the Chicken Rustica, is a delicious white pizza with grilled chicken, fresh spinach, basil, feta cheese, Roma tomatoes, Wisconsin mozzarella, Sicilian extra-virgin olive oil, and fresh garlic. A 16 inch. A great lunch today and enough left over, for a great lunch tomorrow. Good pizza, nice restaurant! For other reviews look for Spike S. on Yelp and...
Read moreJust visited the Broken Arrow location of Russo's. We have enjoyed dining at the South Tulsa location over the years and thought we'd try the newer location for a change. Unfortunately it was disappointment the moment we walked up to the restaurant. As we walked to the main entrance we were greeted by a broken light fixture with trash blowing around the landscape and walkway. We came in fairly early so we did not have to wait on a table and were seated immediately. However, it took a while to get noticed even though we were the only table customers in the restaurant; there was one couple eating at the bar. After about 10 minutes, a waitress brought over cold bread and olive oil and we asked to see menus. The waitress shared that the menu was the same as the Russo's in South Tulsa and left to get our beverages. After ordering the manicotti, I was told that the oven was broken and the pizza oven did not do well with manicotti. So I ordered lasagne and was informed since their pasta oven was down, they weren't serving that either. Then we thought to start off with a small salad and ordered the arugula salad; the waitress said they were out arugula. I ordered a Greek salad and it came with balsamic dressing on the side... The dressing was almost completely oil with no flavor whatsoever so another dressing had to be prepared. Finally we chose our entrees; Chicken Piccata and Truffle Burrata Gnocchi with added chicken. The entrees came out before I could put a dent in my small salad; just way too quick to have "fresh" grilled chicken on our entrees as the menu indicated. Entrees were equally a huge disappointment as well... Chicken Piccata was tasteless, the chicken was tough, rubbery and room temp. The sauce tasted like watered down sauce from a jar; no flavor of wine, lemon or garlic as the menu promised. The Gnocchi was tough, the chicken was like tasteless chunks of rubber and the watery sauce again with no Italian flavor whatsoever. I sent the Piccata back and ate the salad, while my hubby picked at his food. The manager removed the Piccata from our bill and we left. These meals did not deliver "chef crafted" entrees; more like there's "ding-ding" cooking (microwaved food) going on in their kitchen. Definitely not a dining experience worth a...
