I do apologize for the one star, but I think this needs to be addressed. Let me start by saying I LOVE MAGGIE MCFLYS! I go there literally EVERY week! I just wanted to write this as I will not be going to spend my money somewhere where I was spoke to the way I was and after witnessing how this Manager on Duty " Alana" treated me the guest, and her staff members. This is not the first time I have witnessed this neither. I was there last week and I went to use the restroom, and I do vape. I went to the restroom and hit my vape as I was walking out and Alana had seen me and YELLED ACROSS TO ME; AS IF I WAS ONE OF HER EMPLOYEES, VERY RUDE AND VERY AGGRESSIVE. her comment made "DID YOU JUST VAPE? NO, I SEEN YOU DONT DO THAT HERE, WE DONT VAPE HERE, I JUST SEEN YOU, I DONT CARE" now, I wouldve walked out and not ate the food we ordered, but I shrugged it off, knowing I am not in the wrong for hitting my vape walking out of a bathroom, I do not work there. haha. Umm. I wasnt hitting the vape as I was walking out, I blew out the smoke in the entry way. nobody seen me expect for her because she was at the counter. After I complained about how she came aggressively at me asked for her name I seen that she was hawking around the employees and noticed how she makes people feel uncomfortable. I have been a manager, a server, a bartender and now I manage to companies. I will not be going back there if Maggie Mcflys is going to have people like that running around upsetting customers or the staff. That makes it a very toxic energy and I think someone should address this. I will not be going to Danbury Maggie Mcflys and support a buisness who lets people like this be a mad person /and make even me the customer uncomfortable. Sad to say I have been to the other location due to this.
hello thank you for getting back to my complaint about the way someone speaks to a customer or theyre employees. No child was in this facility at this time, it was late night and just a half hour before you guys closed and only thing open was the bar. I understand that "vaping" may be frowned upon, but not to scream at me as if I am an employee, her hostility and vibe WAS NOT WELCOMING. I appreciate you for writing back to my concern but please note you mentioned nothing about addressing the issue of someone's negative energy or how they treat customers or the employees. Two wrongs DO NOT...
Read moreI went based on other reviewers comments and positive comments from friends.
I dined on a Monday evening at around 7 pm. Tables were plentiful and the friendly hostess seated me immediately.
My waitress Alexandra arrived shortly after and was prompt friendly and attentive.
The menu was presented and yes - it is a hardcover book although a good portion was for the many drinks available.
Food options are plentiful and choices can be difficult. I thought I made up my mind and then found other dishes that caught my eye.
The appetizer arrived quickly (a California roll) and I was startled at the size/portion. The presentation was perfect.
Shortly after I had finished the appetizer, my entree arrived (a barbeque chicken pizza). The pie was about 14" in diameter yielding 6 slices and was perfectly sized for me but might be shared between 2.
Lastly, the desert (I think a hot lava cake) was a nice finishing touch
As stated, portions are generous, pricing is fair, presentation of food was great and flavorful with fresh ingredients. Many items are sourced locally.
Lighting was perfect, not so dim that you can't see he menu or the food and the staff friendly and attentive.
There is a large glass divider where the kitchen is on full display.
The ambience was great. The place was clean. The music lively and not intrusive. There were several large screens and a projected image displaying sports at the bar.
I did not give 5 stars because the one minor issue was the chicken chunks on my pizza was a tiny bit dry...just a teeny bit. Do not let this discourage you. I would order it again. Another minor flaw - only because I am in the A/V business was the quality of the video at the bar where the projector image was not filling the screen and one of the flat screens was set to lavender. But - most would not notice and pictures can be adjusted.
But...for the reasons normal people would patronize an establishment, ambience, great food, great value, excellent service in a clean environment - throw in ample parking and a great location and you have a winning combination. Do not hesitate to go experience for yourself.
Final note - I did not need to use the restroom so I can't...
Read moreI went to Maggie McFly's to have dinner and drinks with friends. Before getting into the details, I'll say this: our servers were very kind and easy to talk to and seemed good at their jobs, but they seemed overworked beyond belief on a busy Friday night. There were 2 bartenders for the entire bar area (including many high-top tables outside the actual bar), and they were also responsible for taking food orders. It seemed like they needed more support from the management or other waitstaff in the restaurant. The other side of the restaurant wasn't as busy as the bar.
We were a group of 9 and we were seated in the bar area. 3 of us arrived first and sat at the bar for a drink before dinner, and there were 2 bartenders/servers working the area. 2 of us got drinks, but the 3rd person in our party was passed over and never got to order a drink. Dinner lasted 2 hours, mostly because it took a long time for our servers to get back to the table because they had a lot of other customers.
The food was good, impressive because the menu is so long and comprehensive. We tried several appetizers and entrees and were definitely satisfied on that front. The drinks were not good. The cocktails were unbalanced and far too sweet and syrupy. A few people in our party ordered beers, and after going through the drink menus and asking for listed beers, we discovered 4-5 beers were unavailable/sold out or no longer offered.
Maggie McFly's had a nice atmosphere, good decor, a good location, kind and welcoming servers/bartenders, and clean facilities. These all show great potential. However, everything that went wrong could be addressed by better management. Beer menus should be up-to-date. Cocktail recipes need to be better and not rely so much on heavy sweeteners. When a large party comes in, the restaurant should expect that there is a good possibility of splitting up the check. You need to have more people on staff in a busy bar area so your bartenders/servers aren't...
