First thing’s first: if you’re Hawaiian, or other Pacific Islander looking for local food like back home, this is not the place for that. The quality of my meal was poor. I ordered Loco Moco and on my end I should’ve specified how I wanted my eggs cooked, but it came out sunny side up and I wanted well done. So upon taking the dish back, the cashier assured me she would correct the order. I also asked instead of mac salad, to substitute for another scoop of rice, being that I do not like mac salad. When my food came back out, I did not receive a new plate, the very least I could’ve gotten. Instead someone back in the kitchen simply removed the mac salad and I know this because I seen the trail of sauce beside and under the extra scoop of rice. Then, the eggs on top of the beef patties were simply thrown back onto the pan to cook well done- instead of frying some new eggs. My sister ordered teriyaki tofu and vegetables and when her plate came to the table, the tofu and vegetables were dry and obviously were not fresh. Her food was dry and lacked flavor. Overall disaster and clearly named for aesthetic, appropriation purposes. We will not be returning.

Read moreThe wifey and I arrived at the parking lot and didn't get a good first impression of the outside and grounds in general. But boy, was first impression misleading! Inside, the decor is a random collection of pictures and nick knacks, but it's cheery and relaxed. On Friday and Saturday they have a guitarist playing and crooning all evening, which is way better than having some top 40 songs playing in the background by far. The service was very friendly and food came out promptly. We ordered the coconut shrimp as and appetizer, and the super combo and pork & cabbage plate. The super combo was a mix of teriyaki beef and chicken with 2 eggs on top, and the cabbage side was delicious. Every item we ordered we enjoyed very much! My wife specially liked the atmosphere with the crooner, and it's going to be one of our favorite places from now on. The only demerit is their overpriced shaved ice dessert. For $4 you get shaved ice with syrup of different flavors on top. You'r paying for ice and syrup. They are probably making $3.90 in pure profit from that. Not a good deal. Highly...
Read moreI don't like leaving negative reviews. I always try to see the best in a places food and try to understand circumstances for service. We stopped in yesterday late afternoon, it was very quiet. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and recommended a few popular dishes. The food came fairly quickly but that it was about the best thing I can say about our experience. The food was tasteless, just really bland and lacking flavor. I came in with really high hopes but it just did not feel like restaurant food. I assume it was the owner or manager but she proceeded to give the staff a little lecture behind the counter while there were clients eating. She was quite loud and unprofessional. Have your staff meetings in the back and maybe also do not speak to your employees in such a manner.
I was super stoked to try this place, we had an amazing meal at a Hawaiian place in Augusta a few weeks back and have since been looking for a local equivalent. Sadly, we were very disappointed. Maybe a smaller menu will result in more...
