Evergreen Chinese Food Carry Out — Restaurant in Brooksville

This place deserves an updated review. They are amazing!! I rated this place like 3 stars several years ago but they deserve 5 now. We have been eating here for the last 6-7 years. We have seen this place go thru its ups & downs. Years ago, there would be times we were dissatisfied.. but sometimes it was decent. We finally started ordering take out at the Chinese buffet by the Petco on Cortez b/c the quality was always great, however it cost twice as much as this place and it was a far drive.. and my kids complained that the general tso chicken at evergreens was way better.

At some point in the last year or two, evergreen really stepped up their game. We have resumed eating here at least once or twice a month again and every single time it’s hot, fresh, and flavorful. And the price is great. We always order on their website and if you order like $40 or more they give you a free full size general tso chicken. That free general tso coupon is a huge reason why we keep coming back. You can’t get better for the price. Our order always consists of a shrimp rolls, egg rolls, full size general tso, beef w/ Chinese veg, sweet and sour - 1 chicken and 1 shrimp, shrimp fried rice, lo mein, krab rangoons and fried donuts. Sometimes we get an order of buffalo wings which are good and always well marinated. Plus they give us a 2nd general tso for free and all that only costs $50!! I feed my family a feast for dinner, plus lunch the next day! The beef with Chinese veg is really great. Generous portion of tender beef, with fresh snow peas, fresh green beans, bamboo, broccoli, carrots, etc. it’s amazing.

It’s not just the kitchen that deserves high praise. Everyone working there contributes to the high standards this place has now. You’ll never pick your food up and realize you’re missing items. They never forget to give you exactly what you order! And it’s always packaged with great care, even with little napkins wrapped around the bottom of the egg rolls before they are packaged in the egg roll sleeves. And you can tell the oil they are cooking in is always fresh and clean.

I strongly urge you to give this place a shot. Especially if you tried them years ago and was unhappy. Idk if they are under new management or what but they are doing a killer job. This is our one and only Chinese takeout spot.

The only thing I wish they would put on the menu is a dish like the coconut shrimp from the buffet on Cortez. If evergreen served a bang bang or coconut shrimp style dish, I’d be ordering from this place 1-2 a week!! If not more! Pleeeassseee add a coconut...

Ordered 6 dishes and egg rolls and crab rangoon Chicken in garlic sauce did not have any taste of garlic in it what so ever! It was supposed to be spicy it was sweet. So I did not get chicken with garlic sauce! I dont know what that dish was it was kinda like a general tso sauce taste. It was a red type sauce. The taste was ok overall. The fried rice for all six dishes was not fried rice it was dry and tasteless. The pepper steak was salty therefore not ok. The bourbon chicken once again was ok but it did not taste like any bourbon chicken I have ever had! It tasted like chiken with a bit of flavoring but not bourbon. The General Tso chicken and the sesame chicken tasted the same there was like 10 sesame seeds on the entire dish. It was way to sweet and had not one bit of spicy flavor. I cant comment on my other dish because I have never eaten lo-mein. It was ok once again. The egg rolls were good in taste but very greasy. My hands had grease all over them when I was halfway through it. I only ordered from this place because it was raining and we had enough pizza but I will not be eating here again. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. The delivery guy even walked me to my door holding the umbrella over me! So this is why my overall I give...
