The food was "okay", as in "Okay, I think it will stay down". The place comes across as a mom and pop joint, but lacks the love and spirit that such a place usually shows. Most (but not all) of the staff either had a bad day or is in need of customer service training. I'll err on the side of optimism because I know food service can be a pain. Before I detail anything else, I need to say that this place needs cleaning and maintenance, although all the tables and floors were clean. See the photos I'm posting. The waiter was very nice, if forgetful. He made a couple of errors that he immediately corrected with sincere apologies. The cooks were moving around the kitchen with their heads down the entire time I was there. A couple of staff members complimented my son as I paid the bill but then the lady ringing it up asked if everything was okay in a tone that was clearly challenging, and bordering on hostile. It was strange. The food... The chips and salsa were good, and the beans were okay, but that's pretty much it. I got the burritos especiales. The queso seemed to be made from mac and cheese powder. It was awful. The sour cream inside the burrito was REALLY watery for some reason. The rice was bland but well cooked. My son refused to eat more than one bite of anything but the beans on his child's plate, but he's 2, so maybe the food was fine and maybe not. It was a taco (veggies looked good), beans and rice. My girlfriend got the chili relleno and a sour cream and chicken enchilada. She wasn't a fan of any of it. The only drinks they had were Coke, Sprite and tea. I got unsweetened tea and it was good. It tasted fresh. In summary, Emilio's came up short. I won't be returning and I don't...

So a number of years ago I left four-star review . I had gone a few times and it was really good. I haven't gone since Covid, and I finally went today. Unfortunately, it is not as good as the past times I had been. Last time the enchilada that comes with the chili relleno dish was tender and light and really good. it had kind of a chicken gravy over it that was different but very good. This time I didn't realize they were going to put a Ranchero sauce over it, and it tasted canned and it wasn't good. And their tortilla was heavy and kind of stiff and just not very good. The Rellano itself was OK but the cheese sauce tasted kind of like it had cheese wiz over the top of it. Not the nice light cheese sauce of the past. when I went to go pay, the guy didn't say that they were going to charge extra for the credit card and there was no sign that says so. And then it must've charged like 5% or something because it was more than I was expecting. when I asked the guy about it, he just said the machine charges what it charges. he couldn't even find the receipt that I asked him to look for to see what it charged me. But then I was able to pull up my credit card charge and it shows that it is charged me like an extra $.60 for a 13.50 meal. I wasn't happy. I had cash with me and i could've paid cash if i had known. I know it's not a huge amount, but all those charges add up which is why restaurants do it now. But it adds up to my pocketbook too. i won't...

It was great food at a great price for a long time, but over the past year, they have constantly messed up our orders. I was always gracious to them and didn't say anything, but not this time. The last time I got takeout from them just for my boyfriend and I, instead of the usual price range of $15 to $23 (depending on what we ordered and if anything was on special or not), it was $30. They put my plate in the bag upside down, which made my food all sloppy. My dinner was supposed to come with a stuffed pepper and 2 enchiladas, rice, salad, and refried beans. I got the stuffed pepper, rice, and salad, but they didn't give me the refried beans and the gave me one tostada instead of my 2 enchiladas and my boyfriend got a chicken taco plate and we upgraded to large chips and salsa and that was $30. Also, this time the salsa wasn't very good, and usually it's killer. Something is definitely wrong with that picture. They've never been super friendly to us, I guess it's because we're white or whatever, but they are located very close to our house, they use to have great prices, and their food was usually delicious. I'm really disgusted with them for how they ripped us off this time. We'll have to find a new place to get our Mexican...

The food was alright, the server who took our orders attitude, definitely was not. He was rude from the moment we walked in, I asked for a Diet Coke, he said they didn’t have any, I asked for a regular coke and he raised his voice to let me know that “all we have is sprite”, ok…I’ll take a sprite. Got a sweet tea brought out. My partner asked for a beer, went through 3 that they didn’t have before the server sighed and let him know what all they actually carry. At this point, we’re not tryna get yelled at again, we just drank what was brought out. My enchilada plate was ok, the sauce needs a little help. The burritos had a cheesy sauce over them that was actually pretty tasty. And the borracho beans were really good, as well. Had it not been for the server, it would have been an ok experience. Could have left, but traveled to Brownwood for a funeral and was on a time crunch to get back home to work the night shift so…
