‘Open table ‘reservation Monday night 8 pm. Extremely slow. We enter at the hostess stand on the left is a big sign “Wait to be seated’ The bar is at the right two people having drinks and 4 at the table. One bartender talking with guests no hostess 5 min . Walked down to the main dining room 4 people by the window straight down and a female waitress on the left cleaning the table she looks at us no hi or how can I help you just walks way. Distance between us 3 tables I gave the Dought that she did not see us. Walk up and turn right to another alley and saw a female waitress dressed same like the first one. She told that is a different restaurant we turned into and have to go back to the hostess stand. Back to the stand no hostess , understandable I can see in there Open Table tablet that there were 5-6 tables for evening. Being in this Business is hard I do understand. Here we are to begin. I decided to say Hi to the bartender who responded nicely and came to the stand. Looked at the reservation it did not confirm it. No big deal my guys do that too (open table change restaurant for the cover by people for anyone that is looking at this.) He was nice took us to the table like I said the place was empty I ask him if was better to sit at the bar because we don’t want to hold anyone back or longer to this slow night. He everything is ok you decide. Because was my wife Birthday we sat down. ( It is my mistake that I did not research abut times and how early this village ended his night activities) Here we go: Melisa appears no hi. Ask for the drinks I wanted to get a bottle of wine she ask again I put the menu down and toll her to bring me what ever larger from the bar And a sparkling water. I ask the wife for a glass of Pinot Grigio Or Risling she goes again‘Which One’ I order Rising. Are you ready to order she goes again: “Lady we just sat down for God’s sake we wait 10 min to sit down and on 3 min you want the whole order “ We ask nicely if we can have some minutes to discuss the menu she turned back and enter the kitchen. 5 min she is back with drinks nice time . If I was a restaurant spotter (hotel and restaurant use their own reviewers to check the quality of service and food) I will gave her a 5 start on this but I know she is in Rush because no smile on her face and no interaction. We put the food order starters and main. Melissa goes back to the kitchen and we are happy we have the whole dining room for or self. 10min she is back with starters (great time) She drops a basket of bread on the table if her hand was 3 inches high I will cal it slammed on the table but the two plates down she doesn’t ask who gets it turn around grabs two butter plates from next table “here for sharing “ and back to the kitchen. 15 min later she comes back with main dishes we piled the dishes to gave her space . Food down she grabs the pile of dishes ask me if I want on other drink I ask if kitchen is close she looked at her watch and said yes turn back and left. She never ask me what I need or want. Great . The next person I see is a Lady or Girl that walks by and enter the service station a door down from the kitchen one. I assume she is the lost hostess or Manager. Waive Melisa down and make the check sign hand. Payed. 8:47 out. I still don’t understand why the service has to be like this when you have it on the website reservation site closing time 8:30 pm. Last reservation was allowed 8 pm don’t you gave your gust at list and hour to dine if you expect there reservation. I know for sure Open Table Has a 1:30 min for 2 or 4 people time limit and 2:45 min for 6 and more. Why so rush and bad attitude. If you talk to your customers I am sure they will understand that there are last table and kitchen close 8:30 pm. The bartender get a 5 star rating for short hospitality that provide to us. Food is 4 star .the Cesar salad was great simple great I read reviews about the burger 🍔 Mine was excellent/ Should charge more Risotto cooked to perfection Beef stroganoff the way was...
Read moreI trekked through the pouring rain, visions of what I will experience in this palace of a restaurant flashing through my mind. The doors fly open before me as I wander in, to discover a crackling fire and festive lights and greenery. The large bronze chandelier hung high above my head, and the Christmas tree was decorated with red, white, and gold ornaments and bows. Dark spruce stairs lining the right wall, and white clothed tables decorated the restaurant floor, which was bustling with activity. As we were led into the main area of the restaurant, the atmosphere was delightful, the warm lights casting a charming glow throughout the building, giving it vaguely nostalgic energy.
A hostess greets me and leads me to my table. As I ponder on what to consume, my gaze falls upon the left side of the center of the menu. The Bull Burger. Images clutter my mind, as to what this burger could be like. A juicy burger, lettuce flowing off the edge, cascading like a waterfall, cheese melted just perfectly, stretching as I cut the burger in two. The voices... I make my move, ordering fried chicken, a pomegranate mocktail, and The Bull Burger. 🤤🤤🤤
As I am patiently waiting for my nourishment I hear a faint melody, something I had heard before. It's nostalgic, it's engraved in my memory. And for some ungodly reason, nobody can sing it in tune. It is then that I realized it was someone's birthday. I could not locate the person nor did I know who they were. I sang along, subconsciously, the lyrics engraved in my mind, the sounds escaping my vocal chords, that of an angel. It was not until I had to recite the mystery person's name when I realized what I was doing, and in my haste, decided upon the name… Catherine, they must be named catherine! His name was Joe. Aaanywhoooo…. My gaze drifted to the window, I saw a man in a Santa hat. It's santa! Except I said that out loud.. And its frosty snowman! Unbeknownst to me, it wasn't frosty, it was a lady, and I also happened to say that out loud too. Soon realizing my mistake, I glanced around, making sure nobody heard what had escaped my mouth, but could not help stop my own laughter.
My food has arrived and I scarfed it down vigorously. I stopped for nobody and nothing in my mission, not even to breathe. Burger was the only thing entering my body, oxygen replaced by intoxicating fumes of the American delicacy. 😈 As per tradition, I had to create bloody legs. The ketchup viscosity was perfect for the deed, holding the fries (legs) over the ketchup (blood), slowly lowering them into the tomatoey concoction. It was done… They were suspended there, for the entirety of the meal, only being extracted for photo evidence of the action.
Desert was skipped. No need. After the… high traffic area, that was the restroom (I made it work, don't ask 😬) I was ready to exit the heaven that was this restaurant, back into the freezing cold atmosphere outside. 😞 As I got to the lobby again, recognizing the raging fire and chandelier I knew so well, I felt it get colder as I neared the exit. I began to feel… sad. I couldn't leave this place. It was like my home. All of the memories I made, everything I had been through, from Catherine to the lady outside, from Joe to my famous bloody legs… It hurt to leave, even if it was for the best. Tears stung at my eyes, a lump forming low in my throat. 🥲My hands pressed the cold metal of the door handle and the sharp winds hit my face. I didn't let that stop me though, as I pushed through. I acclimated to the weather, and as I sauntered past the window, I flashed my million dollar smile to my fellow patriots, yearning for their...
Read moreHORRIBLE Easter Brunch. We should of went to the William Penn Inn. Complete opposite of last year. I was looking forward to this year's brunch for a long time..... never again. They should be embarrassed to charge that price for that meal. For the good: The wait staff was very nice and courteous. Smoked salmon was yummy, as well as the smoked white fish. My wife had a tasty omelette. Prime rib was actually cooked this year..... last year I think the cow was still moving on my plate. The cheesecake was superb. That's ALL of the good! For the bad: Everything else! It also seemed like their were fewer options than last year?? A few highlights: First let me start with the smell. We couldn't pin point it, but we think we narrowed it down to the vinyl table clothe under the linen. Really nasty. I couldn't get my mind off of the smell for at least half the meal. They should really clean the place. The waffles were extremely hard. Bacon had a weird texture, almost like it was made the day before and reheated. The Bloody Mary was just tomato juice with a SPLASH of vodka. The tortellinis were a joke. I've never seen such small shrimp. Last year, this was my favorite dish. This year, completely different recipe. And the red sauce was just layered on top, not mixed in. Fresh mozzarella and tomato salad.... the mozzarella was pink! Never seen this in my life, ever! The cherry tomatoes were solid, so I couldn't understand where the pink came from.... plus there was no taste. The shrimp, crab claws and lobster claws had NO taste at all, plus the crab claws were still frozen (almost solid). These items should be the part of the meal to look forward to, not get disgusted by. Mashed potatoes were so thick that it was near the texture of a boiled potato. You could mold a statue out of them. Like how can you mess up mashed potatoes? I think instant mashed potatoes might have been better. The Eggs Benedict looked like it was out for a few days. Blah! The brownies, well my 5 and 9 year old couldn't even stomach them. I've never seen my kids turn away a brownie in their life. Turkey was a bit dry this year, while last year's was remarkably moist.
I can literally go on for two pages with my dislikes, but I think you get the point. Really disappointing meal. I'm not sure if the chef is different or what it was, but lack luster is an understatement. Shameful...
