Brunch anyone? 🥂 Opened in 2018, Ma’Coco you find Mexican delicacies from Baja California. Their fresh, scratch ingredients come together to create delicious Mexican antojitos. And if you’re a lover of chilaquiles, they are now in my top 5 chilaquiles in town! They offer: •Chilaquiles rojos •Chilaquiles verdes •Chilaquiles en mole 🤤 (which I got) We also tried their: •Chicken flautas 🐔 •Breakfast Burrito 🌯 HUGE! And to drink: 🍹 La Maria - Bloody Mary spin with tequila ($5) 🍹 Oaxacan Passion - Mezcal, OJ, passion fruit, agave & chili ($15) Brunch is only on weekends HH is Tuesday-Friday 5-6:30PM Have you been? They also have a second location in Buda, Tx! #supportlocal #latinowned #mexicancuisine #eastaustin #latinacontentcreator #atxeats #austinfood #austinfoodie #atxrestaurant #atxdrinks #austintx #austineats #austindrinks #brunch #sundayfunday #MaCoco #weekendplans #weekends #alatinachronicles #fyp #southaustin #buda #budatx

Best little spot in Buda if you're looking for fresh, made to order quality food. Staff and service is top notch. My waitress Judy was very attentive, professional, super bubbly and personable. >>>> What I ordered: I started with the Chips and Salsa - the chips were good - crispy and fresh -- the 3 salsas were good as well with both the green and the red one having just a little "pica" (spicy kick) to them, yet full of flavor -- 4 out of 5 >>>>Next, the Carne Asada Plate - it came fresh, steaming hot and scrumptious!! Freshly grilled meat was tender and juicy, placed over a bed of Spanish rice and refried beans. The salsa, guac and pico de gallo were VERY VERY good as well - with the red one having just a little "pica" (spicy kick) to it, yet full of flavor. And what I thought to be green beans (until I tasted them) was actually Nopales (sautéed cactus). Slightly tangy and interesting taste. My first time tasting this and it was surprisingly good. A side of steaming hot tortillas to top things off. This plate is a healthy serving size - so bring a big appetite. 5 out of 5....>>>>Last but not least is the Churro Donut and OH My God I wasn't ready for this: it came out so warm, soft, and melts in your mouth literally !! -- Far better than a churro IMO...a MUST HAVE dessert at the end of your meal. 5 out of 5 . ...Atmosphere: 4/5 - bright, airy feeling with simple yet creative decor. Outdoor seating with sunbrellas ⛱️. My overall rating: 5/5. I'll be back definitely.

Update- on a recent visit on a Friday night, we arrive for our reservation at 7:45. Most in the dining room were full of dirty dishes, and we almost left. We asked to be sat on the patio. Our server was super nice, and as last time we really enjoyed our food. Bringing the atmosphere down to 2 stars and overall to 4 stars just because of the incredibly dirty dining room when we got there- (things did get cleaned up by the time we left). It just felt like we were walking into the wrong place. Really enjoyed our dinner with friends. Food was exquisite and well prepared. Margaritas were also very good. I had ordered the Carne Asada plate and my only comment is that it was such a nice piece of meat, I wished they had asked for cooking temperature. It was a little overcooked to my liking. Carne asada fries were also very tasty. Tacos ordered to our table looked terrific. Service was very friendly but a little slow. Overall a really nice addition to Buda. We will definitely be back.

Had reservations for 530 PM and got there right before the rush. We mainly chose this time to avoid a long wait times and also to take advantage of the happy hour pricing for some of the drinks and food options. Let me say that I would only do that from now on (if we ever choose to go back). The difference in happy hour pricing and regular hours pricing is crazy. There is a $10 difference for margaritas, a $4-5 dollar difference for chips and salsa sampler. We started with the Carne asada fries, salsa sampler, and some margaritas. The appetizers and drinks were delicious. The drinks were served in high ball glasses. Maybe the non happy hour glasses are bigger and that’s the reason for the $10 difference? The issue of the night came with our entrees. We ordered the fish tacos and the Enmoladas. The enmoladas were very mediocre. The mole sauce tasted good but the chicken that was inside the enchiladas had to be some of the driest chicken I have ever attempted to eat. The fish tacos were terrible. Soggy and discolored. My wife had 1 bite and was afraid of getting sick from eating it. We spoke with the manager on the floor and the food was taken away, and we politely declined having them remake it or having a different entrée to choose from. We just asked for it to be taken off the ticket since only 1 bite had been taken. He informed us that we would be getting a “complimentary” churro donut for the poor experience. The churro donut did come and it was very good. The check came and the fish tacos were still on the ticket for $18. We got the attention of the waitress and she apologized and took it to the manager whom we spoke with earlier. She then came back with the ticket and the fish tacos were still on the ticket, but discounted $6. So, still had to pay $12 dollars for inedible food that was addressed with the manager!! Instead of complaining once again about the issue, we just paid and left and decided to write a review so others can be aware of...

Visited Buda last weekend and happened upon Ma'Coco. It is a charming and intimate spot in the heart of Buda, with indoor and outdoor seating available. I enjoyed both the lively atmosphere and the music. Our server was attentive and kind in a very genuine way; I didn't even notice when she stealthily filled our waters or removed our finished plates.

Drinks: we started off with the Carajillos and if you are a carajillo consumer, these are the drinks for you! I have never had one made better and I order them everywhere. From there we each had the cadillac margarita, which was just as a good margarita should be. No complaints there. They have a well rounded selection of tequila available too.

Food: to start, we ordered the tuna tostada which was packed with flavor and had a nice smokiness to it from the chipotle aioli, and the carne asada fries, which I am dreaming about right now. These fries satisfy all your cravings from the perfectly roasted carne asada to the creamy guacamole and bright flavors of the pico de gallo balanced with the salty cojita. They are a must try!

As an entrée I ordered the enmoladas, the chicken mole dish. Mole is a complicated dish to make well and I have often been disappointed, but this has earned a seat in the top 3 moles in my Austin-area restaurant rotation. It really is that good. My husband chose the enchiladas verdes, which he ate before I had a chance to try because I was too focused on the mole, but proclaimed them "satisfyingly tasty".

If you are not typically a dessert person, you should forgo that persona to experience the highly rated churro-donuts. We ordered one to share, and then ordered one more. And then one more to take home. And we never do that! If you are a dessert person, just get your own and don't bother sharing!

Next time we will try the brunch - the migas...
