Last Saturday my family and I (6 of us) ate at Donde Angie. The flavors of the entrees were all savory and delicious!! We ordered, chifles with aji and empanades de queso for starters. Very yummy! Our entrees included, Seco de Chivo, Menestra con Chuleta, Sango de Pescado and Guatita. All the entrees were flavorful and tasted like Mom's Guayaquil cooking. The Guatita's flavors could have been enhanced with a bit more peanut butter, salt and cilantro for my sister's taste. A couple of us ordered Colada which was really good but it was served in a styrofoam cup where it should have been served in a glass cup which would give it an even better flavor.
Our server, who I think was also cooking, was very nice and attentive but he did need some assistance. There was another male server there but he wasn't involved with helping. The restaurant would benefit from friendly warm touches to lift the ambience or the overall feel of the place. It's a bit cold with all the dark brown colors maybe some flowers on the tables or some lighter colors to lift the vibe. The way the utensils were presented (in a red basket) could be improved as well. Therefore, an overall improvement in organization, presentation and a more welcoming general feel would make Donde Angie more inviting.
The entrees did take a bit of time to be served because as I mentioned earlier our server was also cooking although we did really appreciate his attention. Overall, we were very satisfied, as the food was tasty and flavorful and we will be eating here again soon. Thank you...
Read moreI really appreciate the effort the owner has made on making this place look like an Ecuadorian restaurant. I’m sure it was a big investment given that they opened just after Covid-19’s lockdown. Atmosphere: Clean and spacious dining area with large screen tvs. Main Dishes: Good flavor and nice presentation. They do have a limited menu, but that’s probably due to prioritizing well known dishes over the less popular ones. Appetizers: It would be nice if they at least have 2 appetizers to choose from. Printed Menu: Maybe they could print out a 1/4 of a paper with the dishes available for that day and the prices, that way people at least can have an idea of how much their bill might be. Payment: They only accept Cash and Zelle (maybe put a sign on the door to let people know before start ordering). All and all I enjoyed eating here, mainly because I see that there is a true desire from the owner to provide good...
Read moreCame here specifically for the Encebollado and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Also had the Filete de Corbina, a fried fish dish from the coastal town of Guayaquil. It was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The staff was friendly and attentive, Pepe sat down with us and told us a little about the origins of what we were eating, and offered many suggestions based on our preferences. If you have never tried Ecuadorian cuisine this is the place for you to change that! Ask for Pepe or Angie and you will have an excellent time! Tell them...
