The longer line at this place on an early Saturday by afternoon was definitely worth the wait. Quality made items & really great service makes this place such a win.

Kyoto Cold Brew Espresso Soft Serve Matcha Tea
TASTE:
Espresso Soft Serve was actually the main reason why I decided to come here. Saw a few photos & it looked enticing. Just FYI, they only serve it Fri-Sun. I was hoping it wasn't going to just taste like a store bought coffee ice cream & it definitely did not. For me it was the perfect balance of bitter, sweetness, & creaminess. There's some finely ground espresso on top which makes it look even more aesthetically pleasing while adding to that espresso flavor. The roasted bitter espresso flavor works so well & is not lost while also being smooth, creamy & sweet enough.
Kyoto Cold Brew was one of the better cold brews I've ever had. Not watery at all, with a very prominent coffee flavor. Coffee flavor even came off as "fruity" & "sweet" in a nice way. I had to drive off & had not yet finished my soft serve. So I just put the rest in the cold brew & I do not regret that decision.
Matcha Tea is literally just that. Perfect for the matcha fan who cannot take the milk or just doesn't want some at the time. They use a higher quality matcha & it tasted as such.
SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING:
Service was honestly probably best I've ever had at any coffee shop. Cashier was so genuinely nice & welcoming. Forgot to get her name but, she had shorter hair & was just hella cool. It was a busy Saturday morning & the line was pretty much all the way to the door but cashier handled everything like a pro.
Interestingly, I've been to quality coffee shops that look a lot more "pretentious". This one doesn't. Maybe little more rustic with the coffee bean bags & roaster in plain sight.
There's only really one long communal table along the middle of the place with side, bar seating. Also looked like a good amount of outside seating available.
They are located right on the corner of Beach Blvd & Los Coyotes. There's ample amount of parking in this shopping area.
Fantastic coffee experience in every way so I definitely see myself coming back here. I don't usually get lattes but the house made syrups...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've already come here a few times whenever I'm in Buena Park to visit the Korean grocery stores in the area (H Mart, Zion, Super 1). The store is nice and I can tell they put an emphasis on libes like coffee shop vibes. This is a good place to probably meet up with friends or have a meeting. It is pretty small so I'm sure it can be hard if it is crowded. Everything is handcrafted and you can tell all of the products are quality given what is displayed and what is being made behind the counter. I don't usually drink coffee so I can't really comment on that, but I did try the various matcha offerings that this store offered. This is probably the first place that I've ever tried so many grades of matcha so it opened my world to other varieties other than a general matcha blend at one store. I think they had three different grades of matcha when I came there and I've tried all three. Of course the top grade had a lot of interesting notes and you can taste more differences or nuances the higher grading you go. The lowest grade is fine as well, but I guess if you really want to taste the matcha for what it is, kind of like how coffee snobs and wine connoisseurs find notes and those drinks, you can find it here. I would say is worth a try to check out this place and maybe a treat once in awhile. It is pretty pricey but I think everywhere is higher price when it's comes to ceremonial...

If you're about a high quality pour over, or espresso, then this is the place for you (this is their original location as far as I'm aware).
There's plenty of free parking with the giant lot and a decent amount of indoor seating.
The staff is friendly and seemingly shares a passion for both coffee and connecting with people.
Their quality even extends to the details of the restroom. They have Le Labo (high quality) soap and hand moisturizer for customers.
Even with the growth of their brand over the last few years, they've managed to keep their main thing the main thing - a quality coffee experience.
When ordering my classic cappuccino and pastry, they usually have two different espresso choices which is rare for coffee shops and ads delight to the experience. Outside of ordering a pour over or a Cap, I would recommend their Spanish Latte or Iced Matcha Tea (they have 3 high quality Matchas to choose from).
That being said, the atmosphere is a bit overly worn in and is in need of a refresh. The restroom is consistently a bit grungy as well as the outdoor seating and panels in the ceiling (beyond a patina vibe). I believe a little TLC on the atmosphere would take this location to the next level.
Definitely would recommend for the coffee and will be coming back when driving down...
