I was under the impression that this was house made Italian but was disappointed last night to find that wasn’t the case. Pasta is sooo easy to make and is critical for a true Italian restaurant. When we ordered the red bolognese I asked which noodles were house made and the server said neither noodle option for it is. What’s worse is it wasn’t even a bolognese!!!! It was big chunks of their meatballs chopped up into sauce and huge slivers of red onion. I had already ordered the meatballs for an appetizer so didn’t need them again. I wanted a slow simmered ground meat bolognese that doesn’t show traces of onion/veggies bc it’s been simmered and incorporated in to become one with the meat. Both of us had a hard time trying to dodge red onion that shouldn’t have been in our bowls which made for a less than pleasant meal. Garlic knots were also sadly a bit stale and were delivered within 1 actual minute of ordering so yeah, clearly not the freshest. Salads were just okay. Best thing was the meatball appetizer with cold ricotta. Left disappointed in this “Italian restaurant.” Vibe and decor were both great but need to step...
Read moreWow! Been a patron for years, but, this totally renovated and redesigned version of the original was a pleasant surprise! I don’t usually do reviews, but, feel compelled to since from the warm greeting at the door to the modern redesign to the absolutely best veal Milanese ever, topped with its deliciously -dressed arugula salad all on a bed of freshly cut roasted potatoes discs, this was one of the best perfectly-timed, well-served Italian meals I’ve had in a long time. Delicious!!! (And, I’m Sicilian and this is Buffalo, so….picky) Reasonable, yet, carefully selected wine list, hot from the oven garlic- glazed buns, perfect red sauce (again, fussy. Can tell by just looking at the color) and, crispy breaded artichokes for an appetizer. Add some clever twists on some classics like piccata topped with shrimp that my dinner partner ordered and, I can t wait to go back. Everything from pasta fagioli to piping pizzas coming out of the kitchen looked phenomenal. Congrats to a great longtime Buffalo’s best restaurant family! Real Deal....
Read moreI reserved Marco's a month in advance of my daughters graduation that was being held at Kleinhans in May 2018. We had a party of 15+ two under the age of one. I planned for us to order off the menu, which has a complete compliment of specialties. They put us in this small aclove away from the main diners. The service was responsive and attentive. They brought out numerous loafs of bread (delicious) and kept our glasses full. One guest ordered the risotto for an appetizer which was splendid. The food was exactly what I expected savory and well cooked. The portions were generous to say the least. Since we were under the gun for time, we set the reservation at 5 hoping to be out by 7: We were not disappointed since they were able to serve my daughter early so she could get to the event and gave us more than ample time to enjoy a few drinks, conversation and still be on time for the graduation ceremony. The whole cost was well below what I expected-another wonderful surprise! I highly recommend...
