We sat at a table that had the SPLIT AC directly on our faces, we asked 3 people to please turn it off or at least lower it down, they refused. I had to run to the car to get a baseball cap for one of my guests, because she couldn’t take the AC on her face.
The water served at the table was warm.
But the worst part of all, was the inflexibility of the kitchen. I’m a chef, we have a very simple principle, always try to accommodate what the guest wants. Well these people are clearly not professionals. They are “no substitutions” no questions asked (in LA, in Burbank, across the street from WB studios), good luck with that.
Amazingly they had a gluten free burguer bun, but when asked to please not put cheese on it, they radically said, no substitutions. We weren’t asking to change anything, just to not put cheese. We also asked to not put Serrano chillies in another burguer, they put them in there and didn’t even tell us before hand. You ask, they don’t do, they don’t let you know.
Also, they literally have 5 over-priced entree items on the menu. Yes, they are a tavern, not a restaurant. So if you want to drink a beer in a freezing uncomfortable place, this is your spot. Don’t go there for the...
Read moreWe went the day after it opened and I’m sorry to not be able to give it 5 stars. We work nearby and have been very excited for it to open. We had to park in the neighborhoods behind the smokehouse and walk over. They don’t have a way to sign up or see the waitlist, they said the wait would be 35 minutes and we really wanted to try it so we waited by the time we actually sat down it was closer to an hour and they changed the table 3 times. The owner or manager walked around greeting and chatting with patrons he knew. It’s very loud and hard to chat with others. Every staff member we interacted with was very sweet and on top of it, we just rarely saw them. It took about 15 minutes for our drinks to come and 30 minutes for our food. They don’t leave the water at your table so you have to hope they come by but they are very busy. My drink was absolutely delicious and the BBQ burger my boyfriend got was also so, so good. My steak was chewy but good flavor. After waiting so long for everything we were very ready to go. We’d love to try it again maybe after a few months after work and they get in the...
Read moreSaw this place had recently opened and went to check it out with my wife. We were absolutely blown away. It’s a small but stylish interior with an upscale “wood cabin” kind of vibe. We split the crispy brussels, chef’s mac, and the tavern steak and subbed the potatoes for their fries (which I think was a great move). Everything was unbelievably delicious, and I want to highlight the chef’s mac because that mac n cheese was maybe one of the best I’ve ever had in LA. They also had a great spirits and beer selection. Our waitress, Chelsea, was fantastic and very attentive. The only knock I’d give is that their dessert selection was pretty limited and nothing really spoke to us, but we were told the chef is working on adding more options to the menu soon. Also, there is valet parking but if you just drive around the area a bit, you should find free parking. We are definitely coming back and I’m so glad a restaurant of this caliber and style...
