My husband and I went to this restaurant after we saw a TV review done by channel 5. Since we live in Burbank we decided to give it a try.
The first thing we noticed is that there is no parking. We had to park in the residential area. Second it's unclear if this placed is a Caribbean, Mexican or Cuban food restaurant. But by looking at the menu, it seems to be more Mexican than Caribbean.
Authentic Caribbean cuisine doesn't serve corn chips with pico de Gallo and green salsa. Cuban cuisine doesn't serve yellow rice. Authentic Cuban food is served with white rice. This is definitely not Caribbean or Cuban cuisine. It is a Mexican restaurant with a mix of some Americanised Cuban food. Portos has better food and if you really are in the mood for Cuban food, then try Versalles.
We had the shrimp and salmon tacos, no rice and no beans. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. My husband had the mango Margarita which was more like a slushy and my Sangria was so so. After all was said and done including the tip, the bill came to $39 dollars.
Not worth our time and money. I don't recommend this restaurant to a true Latin American food connoisseur, unless you don't know any better and are easily...

Excellent friendly and quick service.
Portion sizes are GENEROUS.
The kids carnitas burrito was only $7.95 but it was the same size as your average Chipotle burrito. Not only that the carnitas was one of the best I've ever tried, super flavorful and belt in your mouth. Highly recommend their carnitas!
The tacos are absolutely huge portions. $3.95 for chicken and $4.95 for steak, $5.95 for shrimp. They are probably as big as 2-3 small street tacos combined.
Chicken taco was pretty good, worth it due to the portion and the guac. The steak tacos were delicious, highly recommend. Very flavorful carne asada, and generous piles of meat in each taco.
The highlight was the shrimp tacos. Absolutely delicious. One of the best I've ever had, and I've had a few as a Californian. Delicious charred grill with super flavors, and big piles of shrimp on each taco with a big dollop of guac. Highly recommend, it's a must try.
Their cadillac margarita was amazing too!
Easily 5/5 place. I'll try to come here every time I'm in the area...
Read moreOk First and foremost "La Bamba" is a Caribbean cuisine place but at first look you might think is a Mexican restaurant...Thats what I thought looking at the tacos and All different types of burritos. The restaurant is located in a nice area, the atmosphere is also nice,Service is great. The food for me as a American Salvadoran/Mexican was a little of a culture shock...I mean I love black beans but when I got my Tilapia with rice and Black beans it looked very appetizing but one bite from the beans,…and they were really sweet? Which threw me off completely! The Tilapia was really good the rice also had a different taste then what I'm use to. Overall I wish there was something that says what type of Caribbean cuisine that it is like Cuban? Puerto Rican? Because most people would confuse it for...
