Food is food. It has its own flavor and doesn’t/shouldn’t necessarily be overly saturated in spices. Had I listened to what others have said I would’ve stayed away. I’m glad if found out myself. I showed up alone and was greeted immediately with a smile. This was not the most busy time and I had no wait. The wait staff was friendly and she took her time with me as I hadn’t been here before. They were also seen working well together and having work fun which is great to see. I was checked on constantly while staff was cruising by to do other things. Food: The hush puppies are delicious. Putting some butter on them is a good add, but not needed. I ordered the flounder and shrimp combo special. Initially, the plate appeared piled with shrimp. But I was advised when ordering about the portions. I was told it would be a good handful of shrimp. That handful was placed on top of accompanying hush puppies giving it a mounded appearance. That is seen in picture number two. I had extra hush puppies bc I traded them for coleslaw. Portion wise it is adequate. The baked potato was hot enough to cut easily and not so hot to scald my mouth. I enjoyed the baby flounder and shrimp! The cocktail sauce was a good compliment. I tried the tartar sauce and it was also good. I don’t generally like to eat mayo based foods that are out. The sweet tea is sweet enough and doesn’t have that bottom of the tank taste. I also appreciate the on time refills. Would I eat here again? Yes. I went home with a snack of shrimp, some hush puppies to share, and a full belly.

Worst Meal Ever!!! Now I have eaten at Harbor Inn before and received excellent food and even better service. NOT TODAY. I ordered and paid for a 3-ITEM LARGE and this is what I received. 3 oysters, 2 little pieces of fish and a handful of shrimp. Not to mention when I called back to complain and asked to speak to a Manager, the person that got on the phone was the same rude, older lady that took the order. I had a feeling that she didn't put it in right or something (even though she repeated it back to me). She informed me that it was nothing she could do and provided absolutely no possible solutions. I live 45 minutes away so bringing it back today was not a option but as an appropriate excellent customer service response, she could have offered to replace the meal or discount at a later date. I don't care if it is a busy time for take-out orders, all customers and all orders deserve the same respect and attention. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED BY A TRULY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER!!! The small daily special my mother got was on point. Now I know why I eat at Fisherman's Galley.

My fiancé and I stopped at Harbor Inn Seafood Restaurant in Burlington, NC for the first time, and unfortunately, we left disappointed. We ordered the large fried oyster dinner with coleslaw, hush puppies, and french fries. My fiancé started with a sweet tea, but it tasted borderline rancid, so we sent it back and swapped it for a Mountain Dew, which was fine. Our food came out fairly quickly, but from that point on, things went downhill. The french fries were undercooked, the oysters were greasy and overcooked, and while the hush puppies were decent, the meal overall missed the mark. On the positive side, our waitress was excellent, attentive, friendly, and the highlight of the visit. The building itself feels very dated, like stepping back into the 1980s, but it was clean and tidy. Sadly, the food quality just didn’t match our expectations, and we’re not sure we’ll return.

I’m late posting my updated review about Harbor Inn. Back In April we celebrated my grandma birthday. She turned 82 and wanted to come to Harbor Inn. The dine-in was good. However, when it came to leave and pay… my cousin left first and paid his order and his mom and gave her the white receipt as the restaurant keeps the yellow ticket to show the waiter, #, order and also a to-go order. Me, my aunt and uncle had to-go orders added on to our dine-in orders. Our paying was going well until my aunt went to pay and then the confusion started. The front cashier and manager was going back & forth about my cousin didn’t pay and my aunt gave the white receipt as confirmation it was paid for. They did not believe my aunt and manager started to speak in a rude tone. When this happened it like me know that this establishment will speak to all customers like this.

Here’s my take on this small incident. Harbor Inn should switch to electronic instead of still writing on yellow paper tickets that can easily get misplaced in the thousands of other yellow tickets on busy days. Also, my aunt and I both stood there until the cashier found the ticket and once found they didn’t NOT apologize to my aunt that they did find it and it was an error on their part.

It’s 2023 go electronic so there’s no issues about misplaced handwritten tickets. After I saw this, IMO. I won’t be coming back to Harbor Inn. Do better Harbor Inn management.

UPDATE : recently went back to Harbor Inn and yes they are ALOT...

I came here for a pick-up order all the way from Greensboro, only because I heard so much about this place. The customer service was really good. Place was clean and all the staff did have masks on. I ordered the crab cake with the popcorn shrimp. When I received my order it was hot and fresh. When I got home the food was still nice and hot.

What I did not like was they put cold condiments (butter sour cream tarter sauce etc) in the same box with you HOT FOOD. By the time I got home the butter and sour cream was melted. Who puts COLD condiments in the same container as HOT FOOD!!! I know when I go to Mayflower and Tides Inn here in Greensboro, they have a separate bag they put condiments in. I thought that was a bad idea and they need to change that.

Now, the food was not good, the only thing that was good to me was the popcorn shrimp. The crab cake was DISGUSTING and it taste like it came from a frozen box. I am from Baltimore, MD so I know a REAL CRABCAKE and that was not it. The bake potato was dry. my coleslaw did not have a lid on it and to me that was not sanitary. I was highly upset with Harbor Inn after driving 20mins there and back home and spending $17.00 on a meal I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED and will not be going back. I will stick to Mayflower...
