If you're anywhere near the exit at Lowe's and your stomach's even thinking about being hungry, make a beeline for Honor Roll Hot Dogs. They're usually set up Thursday through Sunday and while I don't have the exact hours, they're ready to roll around midday and serve into the afternoon. And trust me, it's not just a convenient food stop. It's a reason to keep coming back. From my very first visit, the experience stood out. The service was fantastic, genuinely welcoming, energetic, and full of good vibes. You can feel the pride they put into what they're doing and it shows not only in how you're treated but also in what you're eating. Since that first bite, I've found myself back at Lowe's three times this week. Yes, I've picked up some tools on each trip but let's be honest, the real draw has been the hot dogs. Every time, I've switched it up. A classic dog one day, a sausage dog the next, and most recently I added a zero sugar soda to the mix. Every item has been top notch. The food is made with care, the ingredients are high quality, and even the sauces have that "just a cut above" feel. But what really makes Honor Roll Hot Dogs special is the team behind the cart. These guys are the real deal. Smiles, conversation, great energy. It makes grabbing lunch feel like catching up with friends. Now here's a fun detail. On my last visit, I decided to test the waters and asked if they had any zero sugar soda. I fully expected a "nope, just the regulars" but sure enough, they had it ready. Right now, I'm writing this while sipping on a zero sugar Sprite I grabbed from them. That kind of attention to customer needs isn't common. It's thoughtful, and it really stuck with me. If I had one suggestion, it would be to keep expanding the zero sugar drink lineup. I'm a zero sugar Pepsi guy myself and there's definitely a growing demand for more sugar free options. Their lemonade selection already looks great. Flavorful, refreshing. I'd love to see some zero sugar lemonade options added to the mix. If they can mirror the sugar free drink variety of some major fast food spots while keeping their current energy and quality, they'll have something unbeatable. But here's the kicker. It's not just that Honor Roll Hot Dogs is parked at Lowe's. It's that the two together are kind of a perfect partnership. The way I see it, if I need tools, I'm going to Lowe's. If I'm at Lowe's, I'm definitely getting a dog. It's a one two punch that keeps me coming back and keeps me from going anywhere else. So whether you're in it for the gear, the grub, or both, Honor Roll Hot Dogs is worth the stop. Great food, even better people, and an experience that hits the mark every...
Read moreFANTASTIC!!! I woke up yesterday on a rainy cold day and had a nostalgic desire for a chili/cheese/slaw dog for lunch. I searched "best hot dogs around Burlington" and of course the "Z" place came up, but I'm not a fan. This place had great ratings so I wanted to give it a try. Located in the Lowe's Home Improvement sidewalk, I was greeted by James who is enthusiastic and welcoming. He's a true entrepreneur and I was delighted to hear about his endeavor. From the locally sourced toppings and chili with only prime cuts and no fillers and his choice in what franks to use, I could tell he had pride in what he did. I got the spicy sausage and jumbo dogs. Chili, cheese, slaw, and onions on both. EXCELLENT! He even took the time to butter and toast the buns on his griddle before loading them up. These were sized so that I would normally only be able to eat one, but I couldn't stop till both were gone. The prices were more than fair to fill your belly (especially in this economy)! These are quality franks, not your pink No.2 pencil sized wieners. I can't say enough good things, I'll be returning with others in my office in tow after they saw my spread.
Thank you...
Read moreStationed right outside of the Lowe's exit, this place is clearly a gem. You know it's good when you walk in and there's a line, you walk out and there's a line, and you walk back from your car and there's a line with folks saying things along the lines of "you've gotta try"! The folks were exceptionally polite, let me talk their ears off while I waited on my hot dogs, and we had a fun discussion about hot dogs. I ended up going for a Sauerkraut, Onion, and Deli Mustard hot dog ($4) and a classic Chili Slaw dog ($5). The Sauerkraut dog was great, toasted bun with a solid hit of all the ingredients, and the chili/slaw dog was absolutely perfect. It's no wonder as I walked away another group of folks in full construction gear were teasing each other that they had to get some while they were stopping into Lowe's.
Seriously, great little place. I might be stopping here for a bite to eat instead of any other places while making my regular drives up...
