My family and I are currently staying at the Marriott here for my cousin's wedding. We have family in town from CA, IN, CO, VA, FL, OH, OR, and a few more states.
We were told by hotel staff that we would be able to utilize the Marriott Bonvoy club in the back of the Chopps while they were playing live music in the restaurant so we could play cards and chat.
After a short time, we were kicked out of the club by the staff for allegedly violating a rule and we left without a fuss. We were told we could move into the restaurant to play cards and set up there instead.
Immediately Chopps employees told us we weren't allowed to be here and we had to have the Hotel employee who cleared us intervene on our behalf.
While that was happening I attempted to order two drinks at the Bar - a Whiskey 7 and a Moscow Mule - two extremely simple drinks. The bartender looked at me like I had ten heads. She said "we don't have Moscow mules," and I responded that we had been drinking them earlier in the night. She continued to blankly stare at me before I, a bartender by trade, attempted to kindly offer the ingredients to a Moscow Mule - thinking she might not know. She snarkily responded "I know how to make one we don't have ginger beer" and I said ok and apologized. She said she'd ask about ginger beer.
She then asked again what I wanted and I said a Whiskey 7. She asked if I wanted CC or VO and I said I preferred a bourbon and asked what her well whiskey was. She said she didn't have one so I asked instead for a Bulleit Bourbon. She then filled a glass and asked me what I wanted with it. At this point I started to lose my patience and incredulously muttered "seven up?" She then poured coke into my glass. At that point I laughed and she told me she was going to deny me service. She even refused to serve my cousin the night before his wedding even though he had said absolutely nothing and was observing the situation. She never offered an apology for her rude demeanor or mistakes.
Needless to say, as a hospitality professional with 12 years of experience in the Food and Beverage industry, I am appalled by the service we received tonight. I notified the hotel director immediately after this happened.
If you're planning a trip or event I cannot recommend this Marriott or the Chopps Restaurant on site. Other local businesses are far more deserving of your time,...
Read moreSo i never really get to write a review and such but needed to boast how this was the worst restaurant experience
It is my first time going out on new years, out with people so it was a new experience for me, also a birthday and anniversary in the same night, at least there were laughs and some good spirits, but ive worked in this industry for 16 years and have never seen anything like this
It was a party of 11 and we had the course meals and such, sat down at 7pm and didn't get our mains or apps until 9 past, all in all my eyeballs seeing tables sit down after us get all of there apps, mains, dessets you name it, getting the best service while we were put in a corner and almost forgot about the whole night with a couple other parties (mind you they also got there food before us as well) but this one is the kicker, when 10 out of 11 people order filet mignons and nobody not even a manager decided to comeover before the fact and say we ran out of the menu filets that they went straight to flat steaks that made everything look like childs play
And not once was anyone gonna comeover and inform us about the shortening on steaks mind you everyone else was getting theres before us and were left last with whatever they had left over
Sat at 7pm, left at 1030 without a dessert course and a table very very upset going into the new years
Will never be going back after this, this one is definitely a one and done experience, you will have better service from wendys 5...
Read moreHmmmm... I'm not exactly sure what went wrong at this place, considering that the ambiance & menu look fantastic. Actually, I take that back... I know exactly what went wrong: mediocre food & horrific service. I had the "By Land & Sea" and my husband ordered a burger (which was to be cooked medium). My dish had a tangy overtone in the meat that just flat out didn't work. Felt like an attempt for a resteraunt to push itself toward being more upscale than it is... Fail. My husband said his burger was "good," but it was cooked well done instead of medium. The best things on our table at this point were the chopp salad & the fries that came with the burger. Meh.
Cherry on top? Rude service. It was SO obvious that our waiter didn't even want to serve us. It took 35 minutes to place an order in an EMPTY resteraunt. He didn't fill our drinks once, or bring us our food when it came up. From our seats we could see when the food was placed under the heat lamps... It stayed under there for so long, I was tempted to grab it myself! A waitress passed (not ours), and we asked if she could bring our food. She said, "sure" and took care of us after that. Her service was just as mediocre as the food.
Overall... We won't be back, and certainly wouldn't recommend it. I think management at this place is counting on travelers business (as it's located in a Marriott) instead of returning business. If you're at the hotel and absolutely starving......
