I was out riding my motorcycle, going through Burlington, when I saw Tacos Tecalitlan and decided to have lunch there. I'd never been there before and wondered how good the food would be. I parked my motorcycle and walked up to the walk-up ordering window, studied the menu on the wall, and decided to order some tacos. There are several different proteins to choose from and I chose two of the less exotic choices. My choices were beef and Chorizo, two of each. I also chose a bottled Coke for my beverage. I mentioned the Coke because it is the Mexican version made with real sugar. It even had the Mexican label. I ordered my food to eat at the restaurant and was given a number placard to place on my table. I chose a seat under the shaded patio seating area and took some photos of the sitting area and relaxed at my table. The food was delivered within 5 minutes of ordering and looked tasty. I was expecting the large taco shells commonly seen at the local grocery store or at Taco Bell, but these were only about half as big. I was concerned they wouldn't be big enough, but I soon found out that I didn't have anything to be concerned about. I think those four small tacos were the equivalent (in size) to two Taco Bell tacos but were much superior in taste. I'm not sure if it's possible to see in the photo, but they were served with a quarter of a lime and one chili pepper of some sort (my apologies for not getting the exact name), and a homemade green sauce in a squeeze bottle. I rated only 4 stars because there was an overabundance of cilantro on them. Other than that, they were great! I thoroughly enjoyed my stop for lunch here at Tacos Tecalitlan and look forward to a return visit in the future.

This is my favorite place to get really good Mexican food! I love everything I've had from their menu. I will say I've yet to try their counter parts in Mount Vernon and Anacortes, but if I do I'll update. I really enjoy the tamales, they have very low spice, but if you also enjoy spicy hot sauce as I do, they offer a couple sauces! (I ate mine before I started this 😆) I also enjoy their salad, I've yet to have one that was in any way wilty or gross, even with heated meat being put in with it. You can ask for holds on all ingredients and ask for additional meat, or for extra cabbage or lettuce. I have requested extra lettuce and been quite happy with the adjustment. The Lengua(tongue) is always cooked well, I love it in the tacos myself. I have also had the Mulitas, Torta, and Sopes with it. I also really enjoy the Asada(beef) and Cabeza(cheek) meats, and their Quesi Birria is my partner's favorite dish, he gets it every time! Their horchata is fresh and I enjoy having the little bits of cinnamon in the bottom of my cup, it's always at a tasty concentration too, with or without the ice. I'm almost always able to walk up and pick up my order from the window, when it's busy sometimes I go inside because, a gentle reminder, they are a small place. (Now with a dining room!!) They don't usually have more than a couple people behind the counter. As such, when they get super busy on weekends and during a big rush they can have some delay in finishing, but it has always been a reasonable delay and very rarely has it affected the quality of my orders in any meaningful way. 10/10✨

Our first time here, and it didn't disappoint. With a walk up window for take out, and both inside and patio dining, it is well laid out. One orders at the counter, and are given a numbered placard, then find a seat. I had the birria, and it was phenomenal. Incredibly rich broth with beautifully tender beef. Think of the best pulled beef you've ever had, and one up it. My wife had the carne asada, and she said it was both tender and delicious. It looked great, but I was busy with my giant bowl of beefy love. Both dishes were served simply on a paper covered tray, and you dispose of your own when done. We were famished, so photos fell by the wayside, but we will be back, and I'll get some of the food then. Until next time here's the menu.

If I could give this place 1,000 stars I would. Everything is perfect. Nothing is ever wrong or bad. Everything is consistent. Didn’t just meet my expectations, this place has never let me down. I could go on. Let me just elaborate. I’ve experienced the truck at Floyd’s during 4/20 and during their grand opening at Floyd’s and I was like “dang, food truck that isn’t overpriced or dirty? Working with other local businesses? Okay!” And then upon actually walking up to the Burlington location today, got the best customer service in person and on the phone I’ve ever had despite having phone issues! These people know how to cook and run a business! The food was unbelievably good. Comes the same way it did in the truck (again, consistency. I knew what to expect. Foil and plates never misses. When you open it, the plates look amazing.)

There are no drawbacks. Whatever the hot runny sauce is I got with my tacos (salsa/hot sauce? I don’t know you guys, it’s amazing.) it’s the right consistency and it’s not so spicy it kills your taste buds dead. Could dunk every one and slather it. Barely any oily greasy residue on my hands but everything is juicy and bursting with flavor. My goodness.

Added plus- I’m relatively sensitive to fast food and I’ve never had an adverse reaction or felt like “woah shouldn’t have had that” in any way after eating this food.

Doing everything right and nothing wrong. Still $1 for a taco in 2023. This place is something to brag about. To the people that manage and work for this place, you guys are doing something right!

Edit: to the people saying they got treated unfairly because they’re white, don’t be a...
