I had some dinner with my family here. I had the walleye dinner with cheese curds as an appetizer. My mom and aunt had the nachos, and the beef tips and then steak and shrimp respectively. They stated their beef was nice and tender, but we all found our potatoes underseasoned. Once we added some salt and pepper, the flavor was good and the texture was really nice. They didn't bring out my mom's beer right away, but we're kind enough to comp us that due to the mistake. The biggest thing, though, for me, was that my walleye was FULL of tiny little bones. I've had fish with bones before, but I'm usually warned. There was no warning here. The flavor was ok, and I think the fish was tender, but I spent so much time chewing trying to identify any little bones so I didn't choke I couldn't really enjoy it. In retrospect, I really should have sent it back right away. I don't usually expect bones in walleye when I eat out at a restaurant. Sometimes I might find one or two, but it seemed to be in every bite. The cheese curds were amazing however. Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside. Those, the texture of the potatoes, the tenderness of the meat, and the correction of the mistake with the beer earned the 2 stars instead of one. I suppose the atmosphere...

A group of us went to happy hour to say goodbye to a co worker of ours. I guess it was our fault for 1. picking this place 2. picking that side of the bar 3.wanting to order FOOD and DRINKS. we sit down and instantly are berated by the worse bar tender I have ever met in my life. Christy...or the tall mean blonde bartender... she forgot what drinks we ordered 5 seconds after taking our order. I asked for nachos and she yelled "drinks first!" then when a server mistakenly brought me nachos I thought she had placed the order and ACTUALLY did her job. When she found out the fella 4 spots down from me didn't get his nachos she stomped over and said "You didn't order those and you know it!" I replied "yes I did and 3 people heard me say that". " I am blonde but im not that dumb" she shouted back. "What difference does it make, I am eating them and I am going to pay for them." She called me a smarta$$ and walked away then when I paid for it she rang me up for full price not the happy hour price. It was super awkward for my co-workers and we all agreed we are never going back... oh and the nachos...they were worse then tacobell...
Read moreA few of my players and myself were in town for a football game. We stopped at Clive's Roadhouse because it was a place we saw on the way out of Minneapolis. When we entered it took a few minutes for us to be seated as the server/host with busy clearing some tables. When we finally got seated it took several minutes for our server to get our drink order. Because we feared it would be a little bit before he would come back we also placed our order with him right away when bringing our drinks. Unfortunately it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive at our table. There were a couple of tables that came in after us and ordered and got their food before us. The restaurant was less than 50% full the entire time we were there. Our specific server seemed more concerned about clearing tables and doing other things than focusing on the customers. When the food finally did arrive, it was good, but the portions were definitely much smaller than we had anticipated based off the price. The restaurant atmosphere itself was pleasant and had a nice vibe and the decor was interesting to look at. We paid and left after finishing. This specific location I probably will not visit again based off this...
