Went here recently w/ my bf and his son. Ordered a pitcher of beer, a chocolate milk (they didnt have coffee syrup...isnt that a staple in RI), a large order of fries and a large steak and cheese pizza. The waitperson asked if we wanted the fries first and we said "yes". There were two other occupied tables at that time in the dining area (a couple and a family of five). The bar area had four open tables as well. The beer was brought right away, the choclate milk w/in 10 minutes.
We never got our fries. We got our pizza in about 20 minutes, upon our waitperson bringing it we asked about our fries. "Oh ok" was the response. We overheard the waitperson asking for the fries to the cooks. Fries take about two minutes max to cook, btw. Anyway, we ate and asked for a box about 20 minutes later. A box was brought. A few minutes later, the waitperson brought the bill. We had gotten charged for the fries that we didnt receive. By then the couple at the table in front of us had left, and the waitperson went over to collect the tip, we waved the person over gave the waitperson the bill w/ the bank card and told the waitperson to take the charge off for the fries. The waitperson went back to the register (which is also where people pick up take out and abuts the kitchen) and yelled to the cook about the fries not being cooked. The bill was paid and we left.
I made a inquiry using messenger about our experience, because this was not the first time this has happened. The last time we went (about four months ago) the same occurrence happened only instead of getting a pizza which we ordered (and really the only reason why we go there is for this pizza)we got a sub delivered... very inconsistent service is the theme. Pity because we like the old style bar w/ the saloon doors almost as much as we like helping small businesses survive.
And I wont even tell you about the conversation via messenger about this visit. Supposedly, a "manager" responded to me and seemed apathetic. All i can say is "u" and "b" and other shortened verbiage for what should be used when having a professional conversation were not applied and added to our feeling we will not be going back. There is apparently no team work atmosphere as well, just being noted in this conversation, with of course "the waitperson is new and we just send them into the fire!" Being a highlight. Just a few minutes ago the "manager" backpedaled and said the fries were cooked.."maybe someone else got them". Hopefully, they didnt pay for them is my thought.
Anyone have any recommendations for a pizza place that serves steak and cheese pizza and icy cold pitchers of beer in the northern RI or...
Read moreOrdered take out from George's tonight. Our usual places are closed on Mondays and we were in a pinch with a busted oven.
I'll first state that they allowed me to order a Buffalo chicken sub. It's not on the menu but they were kind enough to let me order it. My partner ordered the pastrami bomb sub, a side of fries and we also got a pepperoni pizza.
The Buffalo sub was barely sauced. The pickles on it were also dry. There was barely any lettuce on it, and the lettuce that was on it had the white/brown chunks you see at the base of a head of lettuce. Idk if they made the sandwhich and let it sit on the pizza oven as it cooked, but the sandwhich was lacking any type of moisture. I found myself refilling my drink multiple times.
My partner said her sub tasted good despite the dryness but had the same issues. The ingredients were there, but it seemed like the bread and meat just dried out. Like we were eating day old food.
My kids ate one slice of pizza and called it quits. I didn't try any of it, but normally they kill a whole box. So I imagine it wasn't the best for them either.
The fries were...
Read moreI hadn't been in over 20 years, and it looks exactly as I remember it. I took my three kids and the food impressed us all. The server seemed a bit overwhelmed, though it wasn't particularly busy. She was adequate and at least had the right attitude. I had the whole belly clams, which I really hesitated to order. I've had this at all the typical places, paying $35 for a single order and I was consistently disappointed last few times. Unbelievablely, this destroyed the other big name places and at $22 with a bigger portion. My son loved the chicken fingers, my daughter raved about the fried shrimp and my older son enjoyed the pizza, gave it a 7.5. For me, it looked too thick, but he really liked it. A really great food surprise. The dining room could use some life, better lighting, some music etc. I actually like the dated wood and such. We will definitely be back for the sake...
