Hong Kong Chinese Kitchen — Restaurant in Caldwell

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Ordering online indicating that it would be 55 minutes - so we ordered well in advance. As the clocked passed 1H 15M, we called and was told that "we are busy. it will be another 30-40 minutes". No "I'm sorry"... instead we get yelled at by what I suspect is the owner/cook who was yelling at me that "we are busy and we getting more behind because you are on the phone" .. so after 1 hour and 20 minutes, they hadn't even started our order. We try to support local & next time we will be supporting another local Chinese restaurant. You don't get to be extraordinarily late with a service, not apologize & then feel empowered to yell at the customer for having the gall the call and check on the very late order. ...

Our family has ordered from Hong Kong, once or twice a month for years. Food is good and service has always been friendly, until yesterday. I don’t know who picked up the phone and took my order, but he wasn’t very kind and hung up as soon as I ordered. He didn’t repeat what I ordered or tell me when to pick up. When I arrived to pick up my order, I smiled and said hello. He said nothing and walked right past me! Cold as ice! He handed me my order and said nothing! I said thank you. He said nothing! Turned and walked away. His rudeness was overwhelming! My kids always look forward to their fortune cookie, which didn’t exist! I think this is the first time ever, to pick up Chinese food and there wasn’t a fortune...

I simply do not understand the 5-star reviews.I ordered the Pepper Steak, Lemon Chicken, and Chicken Fried Rice. The pepper Steak, despite swimming in a sea of onions and peppers, was amazingly flavorless. It was quite gummy, too. The Lemon Chicken Featured whole bread, breaded fried chicken patties that tasted like they were premade by Sysco. Flavorless, dry, and unappealing. The lemon sauce also tasted like it was from a commercial kitchen. The fried rice was fine, although it needed seasoning and egg.

Altogether very disappointing. I feel like I was fooled by all of the good reviews. Maybe the people who frequent this place have never had really good...
