Simple Simon's Pizza — Restaurant in Calera

I'm putting 2 stars because the pizza is very good. Some of the best around, in fact. The primary issue here is the service. I'm not sure what else I expected from a small family business in such a tiny Oklahoma town, but the owners need to understand that, while I've been here 4 times since moving to the area, and the food has been great every time, I won't be returning due to the horrendous service from your almost-too-young and poorly trained staff.

First, I've never been to a restaurant that charges for tap water. This seemingly underage blonde girl at the register insisted on 2 separate visits, on charging $1.99 for tap water. When told that most places don't do that. Her reply was that we were still using a cup. Ok, fine, then charge a $.15 cup fee or something, not the same cost of a drink.

Also, I paid cash, which turned this girl's world upside down. She had to get the older woman making pizzas to help her count out $.25 in change. You know...a quarter. The older woman looked at her like she was the dumbest person on earth and said, "You don't know how you pay out $.25??"

The young staff walked around the whole time I was there (as the only customer) fooling around, giggling like children, on their phones nonstop. When 30 mins went by on my latest trip, I asked if the pizza was almost ready and the young blonde said, "Let me check." The pizza had been sitting there, in a box for some reason as I was clearly eating in. She gave me the box and said, "I'm sorry, they'd boxed it up thinking it was a pickup. Do you want me to put it on a pan?" There were literally no other customers. I took the box and left.

Great food, the worst staff. Again, not sure what I was expecting in Calera OK, but the owners need to understand the consistent (because this was multiple vists) frontline experience these untrained and brain dead children represent to customers who would otherwise be happy to patronize your business. And charging full price for tap water is just bad business. And not having a buffet most nights seems to hurt your business as you had great business the first time I came there during a buffet. The other 3 times, I was the only person the whole time...

I usually never give 1 stars. There has to be several factors to give a place of business such a low rating. I own a business so I don't like giving such low ratings, with that said. The Pros. I don't have one since I drove from Silo not to mention had to go down Orchard Rd that is terrible. Really there was not one positive experience. When you first arrive to pay you will have to fight people for roomat the register because they have cheap paper plates right beside the register. The drink station is self serve and constantly stays packed. The air temperature inside was 80degrees. That's way too hot for my liking. I asked the manager if a pizza was sausage or beef. He replied I don't know. I said are they gonna make a beef he said I don't know. To top it off some cookies my wife showed me were burnt. Not too mention the pizza is tasteless, really it's dull.I had to bring this to the managers attention and he said no they were a little burnt but the Gooey inside where it was raw was the way there supposed to be. Opening day this place was AMAZING, But like all good things it dramatically went down hill. We've ordered twice since opening day the first time we waited a hour and 20 mins for our order and didn't know they were behind until we got there and once I got back to pick it up they keep looking for my order for me to pay and I had already done so online. Pizza was OK. Then Saturday the 3rd of July I ordered AGIAN online and called to see if they were backed up and the guy trying to awnser the phone kept cutting out and hanging up , So I finally called enough some other guy awnsered I asked my time frame and it was normal , so when I arrived they kept confusing me w another order of just bread sticks and my order was 65 dollars, They finally handed me my pizza and forgot all the sauces I bought 2 family ranch ext. They had no bag to put the sauces in and the ranch ones had holes in the top of the containers so I had 10 containers w nothing to put them in and the pizza wasn't what I ordered it barely had toppings and wasn't cut and most likely won't order pizza there in the evenings on the weekend shift or a long while ...
