They call this a truck stop... It's not. Idk what it is but definitely not a truck stop. You are not allowed to rest in your car according to the incredibly rude security guard who swept the entire parking lot and told every single vehicle (including trucks) to leave immediately or be arrested. Nobody could believe what was happening. No one would respond when calling business number. This is absolutely crazy. In all my 30 years of driving and 100's of truck stops in many areas of the US and Europe NEVER have I been asked to leave for resting. Kinda the purpose other than fuel of your business line? No? I just read some others reviews and see that this happens frequently. Perhaps you should rebrand and market yourselves as a different type of business. Just a suggestion because your huge sign which is seen from freeway is incredibly misleading. It implies that you give a s#*t for your customers comfort and safety.

The 49er Truckstop Diner in Sacramento is always one of our go-to stops before heading into the Bay Area. We grabbed breakfast here and it was excellent—fresh, generous portions and the perfect start to the day. What makes this spot great is that it works for both truckers and locals. You can enter from the truck side or the vehicle side, and there’s plenty of parking either way. Prices are fair, and the menu is full with something for everyone. The setup is kind of a hybrid: you order at the counter café-style, then sit down and they bring everything out to you. Honestly, it works really well. The diner has been freshly remodeled, it’s very clean, and has a great aesthetic that makes you want to sit and stay awhile. Overall, excellent food, friendly service, and a perfect stop whether you’re in a big rig or just passing through Sacramento. Thank you Korena for wonderful service!

My wife and I decided to try out the 49er Diner for breakfast, and we were not disappointed. The ordering process was simple: we chose from the menu, paid at the counter, and were seated by the friendly staff. The two ladies working that day were incredibly welcoming, making us feel right at home. I ordered the Pancake breakfast while my wife went for the Long haul burrito. Both dishes were delicious, and we enjoyed our beverages - I had hot tea while my wife had hot coffee. If you end up with leftovers, you can even ask for to-go boxes. What really made the 49er Diner stand out was the atmosphere. The place had a great vibe, with truckers coming and going, giving the diner an authentic feel. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. We would definitely recommend the 49er Diner to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot!

The big plus is this place is open 24 hours. We went late after moving my sister into her new place. I like the ambiance. Very nice, especially for a truck stop, which is what this is. Noticed that a lot of regulars came in. . The service though was the WORST! We apparently came in during the cooks break time. It was wee hours in the morning so he was the only one there. The restaurant at that time was empty. When we walked up to look at the menu, a man behind the counter very rudely informed us that we couldn't order now. With no explanation or anything of why not. So I asked "why"? "we're they closed?" When the man snapped back ,I'm on my break, that's why." " You will have to wait a half hour before you can order." So, being super hungry, we waited it out. We went next door to the little shopping store which is full of mementos to buy, plus everything else you could think of. Very nice & quite busy? The lady was very nice there, too. When we came back to the restaurant the place was very busy and everyone was eating already. So how you order is like a fast food joint, where menu & prices hangs on a wall and you tell a cashier, in this case the angry cook,. Then you tell the angry cook what you want. And then pay for it. The man gave us no instructions on what to do next as we did not get a number for him to call out or anything. So we waited & waited. Lots of people came in and got their food all during our wait. We ordered one hamburger that we planned on sharing. I kept going up to the counter to peer over to see if our food was cooked & just sitting there waiting for us to pick up. I didn't want to inquire because the angry cook would have popped my head off. Lol. FINALLY, he brings it out to us. He did cut the burger in half and put lots of French fries on BOTH of our plates. So that was nice. The food was very good. Perfect Crispy fries. Juicy, large hamburger. So I'm sure the service is better during regular hours. If you're out in that area, I recommend this restaurant. Only gave 4 stars because of...

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! My brothers and I stopped in for a late lunch. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, green salad and a diet Pepsi. The waitress came back to our table and said they were out of pork so I said I would take a French dip. The diet Pepsi had to much syrup and not enough carbonation so I asked to replace the soda with ice tea. When I received the French dip sandwich there was a thin hair hanging from the bun with a small piece of what looked like bun hanging from the hair. I held the sandwich up for the waitress to see. Her comment Was "there's no way that's a hair it's a piece of cheese". I explained there wasn't any cheese on the sandwich. She adamantly stated, there's no possible way thats a hair. I asked, if that's the case, what is it? She stated that it could be a piece of lint as if that would be acceptable. She took the plate and walked away. She came back to the table and said she showed it to other waitress and they said it wasn't a hair because no one there had that color of hair! That was very odd as parts of her hair were the very same color. When I told her that she stated, "but I'm not cooking". After my exchange with the nasty waitress, I was to upset to eat as were my brothers. They charged me for a salad that I didn't eat, an inferior diet coke and the iced tea. I suggest you save your money and go somewhere that doesn't serve hair in food or nasty argumentative waitress' . I can see why none of the waitress wear name tags. One of my brothers ordered a chili burger. The chili was from a can and not the professed home made version. The restaurant was full of flies, we were forced to swat them away in order to keep them off the food. I have never been treated so badly in any restaurant, ever! There's a very good restaurant in a truck stop a little further down west bound I 80. Or the Black Bear diner is...

I grew up in Sacramento but moved away to NC over 20yrs ago. I still get by here as a truck driver a couple times a year and the food is always Awesome!!! It had been a while since I had eaten here and I had forgotten the huge portion sizes they serve. I ordered based on what I might typically order at a big name truckstop elsewhere. That resulted in a SEVERE case of overeating. I ordered the chips, guacamole and salsa, with liver and onions for the meal, and went with an additional side salad. Omg, that was a diet disaster. The side salad came first and was as big or bigger than a salad bar buffet salad. I could have called it a meal and been done right there. I got half way through it and this full sized dinner plate of freshly made chips came. With a bowl of both guacamole and salsa to go with it. The guacamole was excellent, and though the salsa was a rather smooth style, it was pretty good as well. My belly is stressing hard before I was half way through it. The liver and onions, with a, naturally, large order of French fries cooked extra crispy to order came, as well as a healthy portion of sauteed yellow squash that was both firm, not soft and soggy and delicious was plopped down in front of me. Not knowing the meaning of surrender, I dove in and finished it all. I'm ready to just explode. Total bill with tax...$21.03. At any chain truckstop, I would have gotten 1/2 that much food, or less. And it would have been bland, soggy and I would have typically left disgusted with myself for eating there in the first place. But not here...They aim to please and do a helluva job. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. This place will always be a favorite stop of mine. Now, if I can just remember that little detail about the portions next time I...
