First off, I have to say, sorry. Sorry that I’m having to leave a not so stellar review as I really wanted to like a neighborhood sushi place. First part, the good: the ambiance was brilliant. You walk in and are greeted by really cool entrance that really takes you to a difference place. As you open the door there is a water feature that drowns out any of the outside noise which is nice and not overpowering. The inside of the restaurant is inviting with its cool petrified wood slabs hanging from the roof and the back wall built to look like a traditional Japanese alleyway store front - really cool.
They were slow this Monday night, so we were sat right away, and the waitress came right to us to offer drinks and menus. looking through the menu the pricing was kinda high, but they subscribe to the same scheme as most local sushi shops of pricing minus 50%, which is fine. I mean why not just put that $20 sushi roll at $10 bucks and call it a day, but whatever. Looking through the rolls they have a good selection, but I noticed a lot of the rolls had cucumber. I’m not super picky so I thought really nothing of it and ordered 2 rolls: the 007 and a rainbow roll. The food came out quickly (again they were pretty slow) and that’s kind of where the review takes a turn. The waitress asks if we needed anything else when setting the boards. I asked for small side of sriracha sauce as I normally do and was shocked to be told it would be 95 cents for the side. I asked if this was a normal charge for sauces and she confirmed. Really? 95 cents for a squirt of sriracha? I understand costs have gone up, but be reasonable in your up charges and if you’re going to charge me at least give me actual original siracha sauce not some cheap knock off - you can tell the difference. That was a BIG turn off and one thing that put a nail in the coffin of me coming back – but hey, all the great reviews of the good food, I’m sure I’m in for a treat. Yeah, no. The rolls were small, the fish was fresh but the 007 had some sort of sauce on top that couldn’t help decern what kind of fish was on top and had little flavor to help its mystery. The filling of the roll was meager as it was overwhelmed by the large quarter of cucumber that was stuffed inside the roll which also overpowered the flavor profile of the 007. The Rainbow roll is generally sold and made sauce free, but it came with a white flavorless stripe of sauce and maybe eel sauce? The roll was tiny and I’m not sure if it had all types of fish as it normally comes with as I couldn’t taste it with how bland the crab filling was and whatever sauce was on it. Finished my meal dissapointed and hammered in that final nail of not...
Read moreWe have been coming here with our family for years and our experience today was like never before. We asked for a table for 10 and were told it'd be 5-10 minutes. We were then approached by manager Steve. He approached us with a very rude tone of voice and told us we'd have to wait for up to an hour and gave no time to listen to any other options we were trying to offer. We asked if we could sit in the patio area and he told us that it was closed. We felt discriminated against because of the fact that we had children with us. We then decided to go to a different restaurant to enjoy with our family. When we approached him once again to kindly let him know that we'd be leaving because we couldn't wait that long with children he said "ok that's fine" with once again a rude tone of voice and no apology. When we were walking out we noticed he had just sat a table into the patio area that he told us was closed for the day. We were truly so shocked and disappointed with this visit and the way we were spoken to and lied by manager Steve. We have been coming for years and the disrespect we recieved today was disappointing. I hope to see better customer service in the future towards...
Read moreUpdate: After a few months we decided to try take out at Blue Nami again and I'm happy to say we had a MUCH better experience! We still had to double check the order (still needed the ginger and soy), but the front staff was super nice and worked hard to make the order right. Hoping this is the new norm! :)
We order a take out order of sushi once every couple of weeks...each time we are more and more disappointed. Food is good, but the customer service is less than mediocre. We never get everything we order...fresh ginger/low sodium soy, so we need to double check/ask again...ALWAYS. Also, it’s super disorganized at the front counter so it’s always a really long wait...even if our food order is complete. When waiting in line to check out, other customers that arrive after are helped before us. Almost walked out 2x out of the last 2 orders...not sure why we keep going back. Going to try Roseville location if we try again...we even talked to the the manager, but he was distracted and not the slightest bit interested in our issues. We’ve been in the restaurant industry for years and this is not how you run a restaurant and keep...
