Broadway Café — Restaurant in California

The Boradway Cafe is an excellent, if not the best, place in the Big Bear area for a cafe lunch or dinner. Indoor seating is limited, but available in inclement weather, otherwise, sit on the patio and enjoy the outdoors. BC has a great selection of burgers and other sanwiches. But that is just a start. The fries and deep fried dill pickle chips are the best out there, and are served generously. The large fry we had today was sufficient for three of us. The fries are crispy brown on the outside and smooth and soft on the inside....I suspect a double trip to the frier helps with that. The waitress today, April 14 at noon, was amazing, and added character to the place. She greeted many by name, and yet made everyone, known or unknown feel welcome. People like that are hard to find. If she is not the owner, I sure hope the owner is taking good care of her. The cook clearly knows his way around the kitchen with everything prepared perfectly. If this cook can make a BLT, Bacon Avocado Burger, Blue Cheese Burger, Fries, and Fried Pickles with the level of perfection we saw today, it would be awsome to see what he could do with a rib eye steak or...

I really wanted to like this place. The reviews seemed great and it was close to our hotel. We ordered hamburgers, one combo avocado bacon cheese burger with tater tots and one cheese burger non combo. We seated ourselves outside and waited and waited and waited for our food. There was a large party in front of us so I'm assuming that's what took so long but it took a long time. We got our drinks 30 mins after we sat down and then our food about 40 mins in. Our order came out a little wrong which happens they gave use fries instead of tater tots and said they would switch it for us. We started on our hamburgers which were really good and cooked perfectly, but even after we finished our burgers our tots still weren't out. I went to the counter and they were sitting there, had been for a bit because they were cold. There was another table that got some items of their order wrong as well. I could tell the staff was a little frazzled but were trying. If it's crowded be prepared to wait and have patience. So all in all the food was good, the staff was nice but got frazzled during a not so...

This used to be my favorite restaurant on the entire mountain, but things change I guess.

Ate here with some friends on a recent visit (former local visiting locals). Server was great and communicative. The cook brought out our food himself and didn't even know what he was handing us. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger and got an avocado bacon burger instead. Was just going to eat it anyway because I don't like causing trouble and I like that combo too, but the bacon tasted burnt. They must have started cheaping out on their buns, too, because they weren't very soft and were falling apart like nothing.

Brought my food back to the counter and paid for my buddy's meal, and the older woman behind the counter charged me nearly $5 for my soft drink. What was a $9 combo meal ended up being $14 something after tax. And come to think of it, I ordered a meal too, so my drink should have been comped with the meal I sent back.

Needless to say I won't be returning here. Time to find a new burger spot on...
