I saw that this place had tons of amazing reviews, so my partner and I decided to give it a shot with a couple friends. Please note this is nothing against the restaurant staff itself, everyone there was really friendly and nice and the service was great.
It was just the food.
As someone thats lived in Sonoma County for over 10 years, I have my choice of great burger and Mexican food places. Lots of good options (Freaking Tacos, Acme Burger, El Roy's, etc.)
And this just.... wasn't it chief. Have any of you ever heard of a "white people taco"? With tomato, shredded cheese, and... ugh. Lettuce? This was that. The actual taco I had was really not great. To be blunt, I regularly have better tacos at Chevys in Railroad Square. The taco with its choice of spices legitimately tasted like it could have been a gyro.. The best thing on my plate were the beans and rice. Also weird choice of colored tortilla chips.
Like was it edible? Yes? But would I go back here? Definitely not. I'm not exactly a foodie either, like Red Robins and Chilis are some of my favorite restaurants. So my bar is already pretty low for good food. So for them to go BELOW a Chili's and Chevys in terms of their food...? 😬
My partner and friend ordered burgers as well, and the wait staff asked how they wanted their burgers cooked. Both asked for medium and medium rare respectively, and they both got charred, well done burgers with HUGE buns that dwarfed the patty itself. Way too much bread compared to burger. And also like... don't ask how you'd like it cooked if you aren't capable of making that.
To give an idea, the vibe was also just eerily quiet. Full of lots of older people, no music, so it was like walking into this strange atmosphere, where I could whisper and it felt like others could hear me.
Idk. If this is your style, then I guess cheers to you, but honestly if you want actual good food I'd probably look elsewhere. To the business: I'm sorry yall. I'd say work on the cooks in the back and have them get better at cooking your namesake burgers first, then try tackling the...
Read moreI had a hectic morning and was looking for a place to eat. I googled a nearby place to eat. Several places popped up. Carmen's Burger Bar caught my eye. I looked at the menu and saw something that sealed the deal. Pastrami sandwiches! Pastrami was one of my main foods when I lived in Boston. That was over 47 years ago. I found the place with ease. It is actually very close to Sutters Hospital. I entered and sat in a booth. I was greeted immediately by a young man who promptly gave me a menu. Even though I had made up my mind,I looked it over for future references. It isn't a large menu, but what they had to offer was enough. I told myself the next time I would return, I would certainly try one of their burgers and maybe a rum and coke! I was served my meal in less than fifteen minutes. As you can see in the photos, the presentation was mouthwatering. The first bite told me I had made the right decision. The serving size was more than I expected. Talk about melt in your mouth tenderness! The flavor was awesome! No over or under seasoning at all! The fries were on point and plentiful! I enjoyed the meal tremendously! The best part is that the meal with a soda costs just a little over twenty dollars! I think it's worth the fifteen minute drive from my home in Santa Rosa....
Read moreHorrible experience. Took almost 15 minutes to get soft drinks. We placed our order at 4:30pm on a Sunday with only three other customers in the restaurant; after 40 minutes our food still hadn't come out so we left & the waitress had the nerve to be rude to us for wanting to leave. The waitress cared more about making smoothies and servicing the Door Dash guy and paid no attention to the customers waiting forever for hot food to come out of a kitchen that was in no way busy. Go to the downtown location for an excellent experience. The mark West Springs Rd location charges the same price as the downtown location but the burgers are missing half the toppings and the fries are delivered frozen; the downtown location hand cuts them fresh to order and has delicious Aioli on...
