A cute little hole-in-the-wall, family-owned Mexican food restaurant, with a great location near fun beaches. Service was friendly and excellent. There are two small tables to eat inside, and another small set outside, but probably best to grab and go. I had high expectations for food from the reviews here, but was very underwhelmed... Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing?
Our family of 6 ordered a selection of tacos -- carnitas, al pastor, barbacoa, chicken and fish. Portions were large, but tortillas were basic (are the corn tortillas supposed to be homemade?), and meat was not very flavorful. The fish taco was the most disappointing to me (especially being near the ocean)... It looked like a rectangular fish nugget and the sauce was very heavy on the mayo flavor.
We've spent a lot of time recently on the central coast and are always trying new local tacos -- these were my least favorite in the area 😣 I might try Chachos one more time to see what the burritos are like, since many reviews here rave...
Read moreThis is a little hole in the wall restaurant. We had some friends who had been here before and recommended this spot. It's not a big fancy place. The building is a an orange building that is very small that sits on a corner. But it was well worth it. The staff was great very friendly. As for the price of the food, well, let's just say it was well worth it. It was the price that I usually get here at home. As for the food, the food was fantastic. It is what we were looking for. Ate at a couple places, with prices that were just outrageous with the food not so great. And there was some that was really nice and pretty, but it tasted like crap still just overpriced crap so you can't imagine how happy and delighted we were to find Chacho's. If you were looking for some good burritos at a nice price, go there. Even if you don't, I still recommend you go there. Other than that, I know where I'll be going from now on. You guys have a blessed...
Read moreI would give chacho's 10 Stars if I could and I rarely say that... This is a classic mom-and-pop family run Mexican restaurant on highway 1 in oceano probably less than a mile south of Pier Ave.... It's hard to believe it but probably the item I order most would just be a bean and cheese burrito... I've never had a better bean and cheese burrito anywhere on Earth and I grew up in LA... The key is the homemade tortillas... If you're planning on going there don't wait until too late because they close pretty early and frequently are sold out of the tortillas by late afternoon... They only have a few seats inside and out and ample parking.. grab your food and take it down to the beach 🏖️.. The Burger and fries are amazingly good but it really doesn't matter because anything you order is going to be amazing for the best experience call in your order 20 minutes before...
