JR’s Donuts — Restaurant in California

Highly overrated! I had such high hopes for this place. I love a round chocolate glazed donut but the ones here are 100% average and typical of most donut shops. I was spoiled by the Donuttery donuts in HB where the chocolate glaze is rich thick and creamy. The chocolate glaze at JR’s is super thin and tasteless in comparison. So disappointing.

Edit: decided to give these guys another try and get a non Chocolate item. Got their Apple Fritter and overall it was decent. The good: They nailed the crispy outside with soft inside texture. Good size. The bad: there wasn’t much apple flavor and no discernible apple chunks. It was also the greasiest Apple fritter I’ve ever had and a little too sweet.

I also learned that they add a 50 cents surcharge is you pay with a CC. I don’t mind this but I do mind the fact that there is no sign anywhere stating that nor does it show on the receipt. I only realized because she rang up one of the donuts as a higher price than advertised. I found that...

I came just for donut holes right before they closed. I expected the service and amount I got to be small. However, the woman gave me 3 extra donuts on top of the donut holes I paid for. She was so sweet and told me it was because she felt sorry she didnt have anymore donut holes to give. Overall, even the donut themselves are amazing. They do stand out from other donut shops, the batter seems to have what looks like cinnamon but for some reason that makes the donut that much better. I highly recommend these donuts, the price...

Ordered 4 donuts. Got home, looked in bag and they did not put my chocolate twist in the bag. I also ordered a jelly filled and they were not filled so I think the lady at the counter got distracted in helping the younger man with the machine that fills the jelly donut that she forgot to put it in the bag.
