I don’t know how this place gets 4.4 overall? We are not from this area, when I ordered I said, “this is our first time here so we try 2 items first”. Don’t know why, the lady didn’t look too happy to hear this? Ordered pad thai and Tom yum, asked for the Tom yum to be half chicken half vege as I don’t like too much “hardened chicken” in my soup. She didn’t say it would cost differently. Small bowl Tom yum $11.95, large $15.95. If order shrimp Tom yum, add $3. Tom yum was served first, served us a bowl that looks small so I asked if that was small or big portion. The lady said it was the small one. Well she didn’t ask if we want small or big when taking order, and I’ve wanted big. Asked her to show us the size of big bowl. She’s one-man-operation outside the kitchen, took her a long while just to bring and show us the big bowl, she set the bowl down and walked away AGAIN to take phone orders and served another customer who ordered drinks. Kept looking at her, doesn’t come back to our table until her everything else is done. Finally had the chance to ask her if we change to big portion does it mean we get more soup, chicken meat and vege? She said yes, I gave her the green light to change our Tom yum order to big bowl. She left the small soup on our table for another 10-15 minutes, walked away AGAIN to continue to take phone orders and served other customers. Pad thai came, was when she took away the small bowl Tom yum which by now should have cooled down much. Gosh, the pad Thai is like spicy hot tomato noodle, does NOT taste anywhere near authentic Thai food. We are Asian, been to Thailand how many times, we know the authentic taste of Thai food, how many Thai restaurants we’ve gone to in USA make authentic Thai food. Even if not authentic, at least make it taste good please. Finally the Tom yum came. Another “gosh”, no taste of Tom yum, their soup tasted like just any vege chicken soup, I might as well go home cook one myself. Our table is the one closest to their register counter where the lady is mostly, answering calls to take orders my husband said “that’s their income source of course she attends much to it”. She came by once to refill water cup and asked if everything is ok but walked away quickly. Asked for our check, got a surprise why instead of $15.95 we were charged $17.95 for the Tom yum? When questioned about it, the lady said, “because we added more vege”! My reply, “why? We didn’t ask for MORE vege than what the big bowl offers?” She was SO RUDE to reply, “it is only $2 more, never mind, I pay!” By this time, I’m done with her like-snail slow service, poor food taste, and now poor attitude. “No no, never mind, I’ll pay” is what I said. Paid the bill in full is what I did, NO service charge is what she gets. We did not enjoy any part of our dinner experience. Never coming back even if we happen to be...
Read moreBeware, False online prices!!! After Reviewing the menu online, I placed a take out order by phone. Upon my arrival I noticed my bill was 30% higher. I asked the cashier for an explication. She proceeded to state that I must have looked at another restaurants menu online by mistake?!.. We then reviewed the online prices together for confirmation. Cashier proceeded to state that the prices online are 3 years old and that google has forgotten to update them. The cashier and owner declined to honor the price and went as far as blame me “the customer” for not knowing their updated prices. Mind boggling!! They stated I should pay their inflated prices because they didn’t want to throw away the food, since it was preordered. Sounds crazy right!!! This place is running a scam and they need to understand Anyone looking to dine at a new restaurant will always research the menu & prices prior to their arrival. No accountability for their false advertisement and they expect the customer to pay for it. I’ll be reporting them to the better business bureau. Such an...
Read moreI am in the Manteca area for work. I live in Atlanta and have a ton of great choices near me at home. I found Mani Thai by doing a search for “Asian food near me”. I had the Thai tea, small Tom Kha Gai soup and the red curry with brown rice. I ordered the curry hot (not Thai hot). The soup was good, a little too sweet; I resolved this by adding some chili oil. The red curry was good, not particularly hot. The same nay complaint that I have would be the temperature in the restaurant, it was hot, I was sweating before my food arrived. Otherwise a good experience, I would try them again, maybe for take out…. Small update, when I received the bill, they put my red curry in the system as mild, now I know why it...
