we were glad to see that Milts had finally reopened after a long "remodeling" closure. We had just come in for the first time last year, in Sept and October 2022, and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, we've come several time in the last few months but they were still closed. Today, we came in expecting major remodeling changes since it was closed so long... but no. besides changes of art on the wall, not much else looked different. Which, whatever. Everything on the February menu sounded awesome. I ordered the Chicken and waffles and my bf ordered a cheeseburger with fries... super easy, simple and should be a quick order. I should mention, it was around 2pm on a Saturday, they weren't busy at all. maybe 6 to 7 tables occupied, and there were no less than 5 wait staff and a busser. after about 20 minutes passed, since we had ordered... and our drinks hadn't been refilled, i noticed the wait staff were grouped together chit-chating, and 1 male was talking about taking Adderall and No dose pills... very classy. Still, we waited and waited. Finally, our waitress came to refill my bfs coffee, and i asked her for a refill of tea. after about a total of 30 minutes, probably more, our food came. I was expecting homemade waffles, thick and fluffy, like you would get at ANY restaurant that serves waffles. What i got was thin, i mean THIN, eggo looking, frozen waffles and tastless chicken pieces. the chicken didn't bother me as much as the waffles, even though i was expecting more from their highly acclaimed fried chicken, it reminded me of the bowling alley chicken, but less seasoned, but the waffles came cold and were so flat, there's just no way those could be made there, they had to be frozen. much disappointment and annoyance. This meal was $18 dollars, for 2 frozen eggos, tasteless chicken pieces and 2 scrambled eggs. the audacity. in THIS ECONOMY. where people are trying to support local businesses but also trying to get meals that are worth the money. i could buy 6 boxes of eggos for $18. My bfs burger was basic, nothing exciting, and he said you could taste the fries were frozen, which in most cases fries usually are, but you usually can't taste the "frozen" in them... IFYKYK. His meal was $17. I ordered some beinets to go, (before we tasted our meals) off the February menu but I've yet to taste them. I afraid I'll be equally disappointed as with the waffles. but maybe they will redeme Milts. but as of now, Milts is added to the list of many restaurants who've gone the way of overcharging for mediocre food and service since the pandemic. our list of local eateries that provide great food, great service, and fair prices is getting shorter and shorter. We love supporting local businesses and I understand that many local businesses have been struggling, but cutting corners in quality, taste and service, is not the way to go to get people to return. I've noticed this is a growing trend everywhere now. Mediocrity has become the bar and no one is trying to go above it. I don't like to write negative reviews. But I do want to enjoy and be happy with the service and product I'm spending my money on, especially in a time when people are trying to budget and make ends meet. what was once a nice $50 dinner for 2 has become a $75 dinner for 2. The food and service was somehow better when it...

I’m going to leave what I believe to be one of the only honest reviews of this place that you’ll find. I’m not a difficult person to please. In most cases, I find myself to be somewhat of a pushover. I typically do not complain about anything, even when I’m met with the absolute worst. This time, however, I’m left with no choice but to speak up. My dad recommended we go to this place because he had been coming for years, but we both left unsatisfied. First of all, the food is overpriced. I would be willing to pay as much as it is if the food was at least somewhat warm, but it was nowhere near room temperature. It took over 30 minutes to get our food, which, of course, was ice cold. The waffle was thin and burned, and the eggs were brown and undercooked. The hash browns were burned on the outside and raw in the middle, and the biscuit was probably the worst I have ever had. It tasted and felt like I was eating a stick of deodorant. The waiter was not personable in the slightest. It was like pulling teeth trying to get him to do anything at all. There was no cream for my coffee, and when I asked he brought me a receptacle of cream with a crusted film on top. It was also warm and slightly chunky. He never came back to ask how anything was, and when we ordered he was exceptionally rude, cutting me off whenever I would ask a question like he was in a hurry when the place was half empty. I hate to leave reviews like this because I like to support local businesses, but this is a place that needs to correct some major issues. It was $50 for two people to eat and absolutely nothing was good. I will never be coming back. Extremely...

My experience here was horrible. We were placed in booth were the highchair couldnt fit in between the booth seats, so there was a big gap between the highchair and the edge of the table. And the booth cushions would come up everytime I leaned on the edge to feed my child. My mom ordered the giant cinnamon roll, mainly because I heard Alton brown liked it when he came. It was gross. It was lukewarm, had cold spots in it as if it was unevenly heated up in the microwave. It was soaked in margarine and the texture of the dough was bready, not yeasty. Very unappetizing. My mom ordered the fish and chips and she enjoyed them very much. My son got the Mickey mouse pancakes and they were doused in whipped cream and m&ms. He just ate the candy on it. We ordered the the oatmeal for my infant girl and it was very gooey and sloppy. For myself I got the spinach and mushroom omelet. Very disappointing. The cook didnt squeeze the juice out of the spinach (which tasted like frozen spinach, not fresh) so my omelet was sitting in spinach water. The omelet was also burnt. I couldnt eat it so I sent it back. The waitress was nice and understanding, she took it off the tab. The place inside is very drab, still set in the 1980s like alot of restaurants here in Bakersfield. I'm sure there is good food here, but I...

HOLIDAY IN THE SUN Looking for a diner? Look no further. It’s the location, especially if you’re on vacation, though the Europeans say “holiday”. Milt’s is conveniently located right off Highway 99 in heart of Bakersfield. The atmosphere once inside this humble setting is one not to be forgotten. Most notable, the kindness of a friendly staff. Norman Rockwell and stylistic original murals surround the upper back wall. The music at Milt’s is nothing but good vibes. Paul Simon, Jim Morrison, Lou Reed, The Beatles and The Police all share the air waves here so for all you rockers, this place has got it. This place is also CLEAN! Stroll into the restrooms and you will see for yourself. Clean restrooms always dictate a clean kitchen and that offers peace of mind to the patron. The waitresses and cooks are all well kept with hair up and out of the food. And the food! Anyone hungry for the crispiest french fries in town? The griddled toasted bread, the savory flavor of pastrami, and the milkshakes with the fresh peanut butter!! Are you kidding me? Good Golly Miss Molly! Shout out to Roger as proprietor, the entire smiling staff for working as a team and a special shout out to McKenna :) See you next time we’re on holiday from Long Beach, California.
