WHERE'S THE BEEF? THE GOOD: THE FOOD IS ACTUALLY PRETTY TASTY WHEN/ IF THEY GIVE YOU DECENT PORTIONS, IT'S AIR CONDITIONED, THEY HAVE OUTSIDE SEATING, THEY SELL BEER. STAFF ARE POLITE. THE BAD: VERY INCONSISTENT PORTIONS, TOO MUCH TORTILLA, VERY LITTLE FILLING. THIS MOST RECENT TIME OUTRIGHT SKIMPY PORTION. THEIR CREDIT CARD MACHINE BASICALLY FORCES A TIP, IT'S A TO-GO ORDER FOR A BURRITO I SAID. YOUR OPTIONS ARE 15, 18, OR 20%. I DID NOT SEE AN OPTION FOR NO TIP, PERHAPS I'M WRONG BUT WHEN I ASKED IF IT COULD ENTER NO TIP BECAUSE IT'S A TO GO ORDER, SHE SAID MY CARD WAS ALREADY INSERTED. PERHAPS THE COOK OVERHEARD ME, BECAUSE MY BURRITO HARDLY HAD ANY MEAT IN IT AT ALL, IT WAS ALL ONE BIG TORTILLA, I JUST FINISHED IT, SO AFTER $19 BUCKS I'M GOING TO GO LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE TO EAT. IT WAS THAT SKIMPY ON FILLING. I PAID EXTRA TO HAVE IT MADE WET, SO APPROXIMATELY, WITHIN A FEW PENNIES, $13.50 FOR MY BURRITO WITH TIP WITH THE MINIMUM 15% ON A TO-GO. I WENT BACK A SECOND TIME WHILE WAITING FOR MY FOOD, AND GOT A BEER, I ASKED IF I COULD HAVE SOME CHIPS AND SHE SAID, "I CAN GIVE YOU SOME CHIPS." SO I'M NOT REALLY SURE IF THOSE ARE ALWAYS INCLUDED. FIVE MORE DOLLARS FOR THE BEER, I LEFT A $1 TIP ON THE BEER AS I WAS GOING TO DRINK THAT THERE. PLEASE DON'T THINK I DON'T TIP, I LEAVE 15 TO 20% ON A SIT-DOWN MEAL, BUT BEING FORCED INTO A TIP FOR A TO-GO ORDER, IT'S GONE TOO FAR! EITHER THE PORTIONS WERE SKIMPY BECAUSE THEIR SKIMPY, (THE OTHER TIMES NOT QUITE AS BAD BUT INCONSISTENT NEVER THE SAME), OR THEY DID NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE 15% ON A BURRITO TO GO. EITHER WAY, NOT GOOD FOR THE CUSTOMER. Food could have gotten five stars if the portions were consistently enough for a grown man to make a good meal out of, and not just tortilla, atmosphere is good but it's no fancy restaurant, at $19 bucks for a burrito and a beer, I'd have to consider that as being not up to par for what you're paying for and getting. service, the staff have been friendly every time I've been in but it's not a fancy restaurant where they're going to come and scrape the crumbs off your table between courses. You're forced to stand in line to order your food, and no dignified way to not to leave a minimum 15% tip on a to-go order. Although friendly, I consider that bad service. Photo of all the carb that I will throw away. I should have taken a picture of the meat before I ate it, but it probably wouldn't have been visible as it was really so small, like fishing in tortilla for...
Read moreI recently had lunch at this fantastic Mexican restaurant with a few coworkers, and while I didn’t snap any photos (I was too busy enjoying the moment), I couldn’t let the experience go without sharing a few words.
I ordered the 2 cheese enchiladas combo, which came with rice and beans, and wow, the portions were generous! The enchiladas were served on big plates, piping hot and smothered in rich, melty cheese that had just the right amount of tang and creaminess. The rice was fluffy, the beans were hearty, and everything tasted fresh and homemade.
To drink, I had a Mexican Coke, which had a noticeably smoother and more natural sweetness compared to the regular kind, probably thanks to the cane sugar. It paired perfectly with the meal.
The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot for a midday break with coworkers. I’ll definitely be coming back when the next opportunity rolls around. If you're craving authentic Mexican food with generous portions and great flavor, this place is...
Read moreI've come to the conclusion that restaurant reviews are so subjective that they are nearly useless, so I am going to describe what I like about Rosa's and try not to go on too much.
The shrimp tostada has a LOT of shrimp and avocado, the right amount of cilantro and onion and lime on the side. The tortilla is crispy and fresh.
The generous carnitas super tostada has a fresh, crispy, flour tortilla bowl filled with just the right proportion of beans (not too many), carnitas, guacamole, sour cream and crisp, clean lettuce. You can add fresh red or green salsa, but I like it just the way it comes.
I haven't eaten everything at Rosa's so maybe some stuff isn't perfect but I've never had anything there I didn't like. I wish they had more desserts.
As a bonus, there's a thrift store just a few doors away, I think it's called St John's, and it generally has, for some unknown reason, a great selection of...
