Surprisingly good food, confused vibe. Ordered the lunch special as I couldn't think enough to make decisions. It was chicken teriyaki, white rice, miso soup, orange slices, vegetable tempura, and some tuna. Food was surprisingly delicious, really good. Came out at a reasonable time - not fast enough to be suspicious, not too long. I took half of it home as it was a lot for one person. They opened at 11:30 and I was the second person there at 11:50 on a weekday. I think it's mostly the nearby hotel patrons that visit. Service friendly and fast, vibes relaxed, ~6 large TVs playing. The place seems a bit confused on its identity - maybe it used to be a steakhouse or IHOP or something. The plants are a bit sad, the entry sign old and faded. It feels like you'd want to order the Western omelet and coffee. The music was a radio station playing Foo Fighters, Linkin Park type stuff, which I was bobbing to but it was odd. The bathrooms are a lil rough and have no towels, only the dryer. I did appreciate the bamboo outside to help shade and block from the big road but it needs a bit of TLC.

The only bad- it was a bit chilly in there on a Saturday early afternoon for lunch... This is still one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. We ordered the spicy tofu soup and the saba shioyaki/shrimp tempura combo special. I prefer my egg raw and on top of my soup. The egg was already in the soup and hiding amongst the tofu chunks. Not a big deal, though. It was still delicious and was a great antidote to the chilly temperature. There was a hint of spiciness which was good for me. And the beef slices and vegetables were a good addition. The grilled mackerel was terrific. Not undercooked and juicy. And it is always more enjoyable with the side dip of soy sauce, lemon and daikon. As usual, we had no complaints with our waitress as she adequately attended to our needs. They have been my first choice for Japanese food and they will remain in that spot. 4 BEBACK Stars.

Pros: This Sushi restaurant has a bar inside, The kitchen is located in the middle, and you sit there like a bar, order your food, Eat right there and watch the chefs cooking. The taste of the sushi is unique compare to others The quality of the food as well as the service are great Te waiters have been working here for so long according to my friend who took me there This means the owner treats them well for them to stick to this job. This restaurant opened more than 50+ years ago and still open till today. This could mean it is working and have their customers. Cons : It is a bit pricy The bathrooms are not great but they are not bad It is the largest sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Normally they are mid-sizes If I had to change something there, it would be the bathroom. I would make them bigger and much cleaner

Tried it out today. Ordered the Benson special roll and it came out not what I expected (brown soupy pic). Visually not appealing but was surprisingly delicious (contains peanuts). My companions enjoyed their meals, but the crazy monkey roll (simple roll with the soy sauce tray in pic) was stated to be a bit on the mushy side. The Folsom and the Titanic (double roll plate pic) was a hit and nicely displayed. I forgot what the last dish was, but it was said it was good. Our server was young and very friendly. Not a fancy place and a bit pricey for the simplicity of the plate. Environment has potential.
