Sunshine Donuts — Restaurant in California

I am so confused as to how this place got such good reviews. Not only did they have absolutely no selection, they totally acted as though us being there was a complete inconvenience. We had gone there specifically for cronuts. When we got there the young man behind the counter said they had plain and glazed. I asked if there were any others, I had seen they had 5 varieties on the internet, he said no. An older gentleman then came from the back asking what kind we had wanted, I had thought that meant they would make them. I asked him what kind they had, as it was my first time there, he impatiently said maple bacon, oreo cookie, we have all kinds. Unfortunately, I am not aware of what they have (and they had no variety available to see; of anything) and had no clue as to what was available. He then walked away, not even giving me a second to answer. We decided to just get a few maple bars, and leave. I honestly wish we hadn't gotten...

I honestly feel bad that it has taken me this long to write a review for this place. Firstly, I feel no shame in saying that I have likely eaten donuts from at least 90% of the shops in sacramento, yolo and santa clara counties. This is not what one would consider a fancy bakery or anything. This is a donut shop. They do the basics, but they do them very well. Not only that, but they are exceptionally friendly and accommodating every time. The food is fresh and delicious, the place is clean, and, despite my numerous special requests (this in that bag, that in a separate one, etc), they never let me feel like a burden. In fact, they almost always give us a free one. I have also placed multiple large orders, and have never been dissatisfied. Once they even decorated each one to look like baseballs and were a huge hit at tball. So, obviously, I recommend...

I've never been particularly passionate about donuts, but this place has changed my mind. The staff all greeted us and asked us how we were doing, they instructed us on the best deals for quantity, and made pleasant conversation. My wife and I ended up getting a variety of types, and each one of them was the freshest, softest, most delicious donut I've ever tasted. Even the cake donuts had a pillow-like consistency, whereas other places I've gotten them they were far too dense. The female staff member ever tossed in half a dozen donut holes for us for free, after we said it was our first time there.
