I find it a trend at other restaurants as well as here, that servers push their way forward in front of a guest when the two appear at the same place at the same time. In my past experience, i was trained by a professional restaurant chain that when you are approaching, even if you have hot food on your tray, you step aside and allow the customer, your guest, to pass first, as a demonstration of respect that they are dining in YOUR restaurant and not another, but to also improve the overall quality of service and reviews of the restaurant. I had two servers pass me with dirty plates and as they were approaching me, rushed to get past me and cross in from of me. In today's economy, where business is a bit down everywhere, Management should be conscientious of this and instruct their servers to be gracious and defer passage of a patron first before proceeding to the bussing station, especially when the GUEST is carrying the hot food, not the beverage server, which is basically what Thunder Valley's servers are...
Read moreI don't typically go to buffets; I just don't eat enough to spend the money. But yesterday was Senior day at Thunder Valley and you get half off your meal so I thought I'd try it.
The buffet has a good variety of food: Asian, Italian, Mediterranean, American, Mexican, sweets an salad sections. The salad bar was very fresh, with lots of bread choices and soups. Most of the food is pretty good, some not so much. What I liked most was the carving area where you could get carved turkey or prime rib. However, once seated, the service person was right there to take our drink order, brought us extra napkins and was very attentive while eating our meal.
I would still day go there and try it out. Even if you don't eat a lit, you can find...
Read moreI walked through acres of sad people. The place was dark, smelly, smoky, and foul. It was so noisy that we had to scream at each other across the table at the lunch I attended.
I counted 1,000 people at games, just after lunch on Friday. I saw no hilarity, no camaraderie, no joy. I saw bitter people, hunched, unhappy-looking, bored to death, compulsively pushing buttons. All the while, lights flashed very brightly and consistently in their faces and "music" from their machine and those near them blared in their ears.
This was far, far from the happy, joyous, fun-filled images that casinos pretend will be mine.
Someone chose this grimy, slimy and sick location for my boss's retirement lunch!! I simply cannot understand the emotional issues that would make someone do that. For me, finally leaving was how I got the joy and happiness this false...
