I have dined at Thunder Cafe a number of times and to be honest, I don't know why I keep going back. Convenience I'd imagine. Last night I ordered the steak well done (butterflied because it always come out pink every single time) with the baked potato "absolutely no sour cream and no glaze on the steak". My husband ordered the prime rib dinner. When our meals arrived at the table, mine was all wrong. My plate had a steak covered in glaze, a potato, vegetables and in little ups were butter, horseradish sauce (for his prime rib because that does not come with a steak) and a cup of sour cream. I told the him that the entire thing was wrong. I ordered no glaze (its gross) and I'm not sure why I have my husband's horseradish sauce and the sour cream is a huge problem because it's an allergy and I was clear when I said "absolutely no sour cream." At this point the waitress was at our table as well and frustrated because she did her part. When my meal returned for a second time, it was still wrong. I'm pretty sure they wiped off the steak and flipped it over on the plate. Also, there is still sour cream in a cup on the plate and keep in mind, the entire time, its pressed against the potato so it's not like I could just move it. At this point, I am frustrated and asked to speak with the manager. This older woman approached out table obviously put out that I wanted to speak to her. When she asked me "what's the problem" that's where I about lost my $#@+. I explained that the meal in front of me was their second attempt at bringing out what I ordered. As her attitude progressively got worse she pushed me off on the chef. I said sure let me talk with him since you're telling me hes the one in charge. In addition. I want to see the ticket for my order because I am positive that our waitress did her job correctly. When the chef arrived, I for a 3rd time explained the problem. His solution was to attempt it a 3rd time. I declined and voiced my concern that every single time I order a steak from the thunder cafe, his crew doesnt follow directions. I declined an additional replacement because by the time it would arrive, my husband would be finished with his dinner because I'm not going to let his get cold while they figure it out. I told him in addition to removing my meal from our bill, they will for sure be applying a discount to the remaining considering the run around. As we are sitting there waiting for our bill, the older manager woman sprints by our table stating that she took care of our bill. Not expecting that and having our waitress visit us again to let us know that our tab was on them, I felt bad. She did her job. She was wonderful. The other people "in charge" we encountered during this visit were far from polite, courteous, professional and enjoyable. So, I left her a tip and we left.
Sadly, like I said, I keep giving chances when I shouldn't. I could ordered something as simple as potatoe skins (and I have several times) and they bring those out wrong. Not a fan or tomato's all over potatoe skins.

Everything was fabulous and wonderful until when im trying to pay for our order with a gift card.... (didnt think it would difficult since it was a THUNDER VALLEY gift card given to an employee by Thunder Valley themselves...) and previously we went and got the total amount on the gift card at the gift shop, so we knew exactly how much was on there. So come to payment time, im not sure what happened she slid the card multiple times on one register and wasnt working, then tried an ipad multiple times and didnt work, then tried to use a complete different terminal and still didnt work.. so the lady asked for my ID (ME VERY CONFUSED AT THIS POINT) She said she was calling a supervisor to figure out whats going on with my id info and then didnt even have my gift card at this time either. She comes back and says she talked to her supervisor and they said that i only had 56 points and i couldnt use that for payment. I then even more confused, trying to explain im not paying with points, and she kept bringing up players club card and how i must have used the points else where. Then my sister in law had to point out on the back of the GIFT CARD, how we couldnt even use that at slots. She was very argumentative and really she was treating us like we were stupid... and saying we were the mistaken ones.. eventually she finally asked a manager for help after ALL OF THIS, and the gift card went through no problem with a remaining balance. But communication skills are most key in this environment.... First time ive been back since ng fiance and i had got food poisoning from them and this is the experience we get!! I will absolutely never go back. Other hand food was phenomenal this time around, we will miss...
Read moreFood has definitely gone down hill. One of my favorite items on the menu is the biscuits and gravy. They used to have an adequate amount of gravy on them. It doesn't even cover the biscuit now. I thought it might be a one off thing or maybe it was due to the chef. I ordered it again the next day and it's the same...Their pasta is just microwaved lol. They don't even cook it. How do I know this. There is water dripping on the plate. Most likely ice from thawing out in a microwave. I've tried every single plate on the menu and their rotating plates. Their fish tacos are a lol. Better off catching your own fish to make them. They have this off putting taste on the fish who knows how long it's been in a freezer. Their steak is probably the only safe bet that and the salmon then again their salmon is probably farmed. They really need to revamp their entire menu. Casinos in Reno anything you order on the menu and it's top quality food. Totally shames this place in the quality of food they are serving.
