The drinks that come out of the shack itself are and have been consistently good but the recent return to serving food was a huge disappointment.

The barbecue wasn't great, pork ribs came out way too smoky, were mealy in spots and the sauce on them wasn't a good pick, bland and not sweet enough. Similarly, the carnitas was bone dry and over-smoked.

The burger is only slightly better than fast food for 3x the price, patties were WAY too thick to be called a smashburger. Advertising 'fries' and serving waffle fries should be a crime, not only are they just not as good as straight-cut fries but the huge shape makes the 'loaded fries' order on the menu just impossible to eat with a fork. The sides were nothing special, the green chili mac was just OK and the beans were swimming in some mayo-based sauce, not good... Just make regular baked beans in a tomato/bbq sauce!

Prices are just absurdly high for the quality of the food, if they want this place to succeed they need to go back to the drawing board in a big way, there's several restaurants that constitute The Shack's entire menu that are less than a 2 minute drive away and serve better tasting food...

Imagine being on TIMED lunch, and you're trying to help out someone local. You order ahead (online) and you receive a confirmation email stating your order will be ready for pickup at said time. You arrive 5mins after said time to ensure that it's ready, just to be told wait another 5 minutes. You're on lunch but no problem I'll wait. 15+ mins later they finally bring out your stuff. Now you're upset and pressed for time because my lunch is basically over and I'm on my work time again. You rush off trying to get back to work just to notice while driving they forgot a large portion of your order. Now you not only lose out on lunch but you're cutting into your pay and losing gas because you have to turn around. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I’m so disappointed making this review. We get food from here like twice a month and have always been more than satisfied and happy with our food. This was our first time having such an unsatisfactory experience ordering to-go online. I ordered the Baja fish burrito with chips and salsa, as shown in the receipt attached, but did not receive any chips. The burrito itself was so sad LOOOLLLL, it was less than half the size it usually is (I’ve ordered this burrito many times before), and they quite literally stuffed the burrito with the tortilla itself to make it seem as if it had a lot of filling. I’ve provided a picture below—the entirety of the burrito looked like that. Like yall, that’s such a sad looking burrito… come on man.
