My first visit was a wonderful experience overall. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the cleanliness of the store was impeccable. The pies themselves are absolutely beautiful. If Winston is aiming for a premium, high-end experience, they need to do two things: I would love to see them communicate why their pies are a bit more costly —is it the high-quality, all-natural, or organic ingredients? Highlighting this would connect the price to the value.
Elevate the in-store experience to match the quality of the baking. The most critical missing piece is the option to have the pies heated. Many people prefer a warm slice, and it seems like a simple service that would delight customers (and one the staff mentioned is frequently requested!). To truly create that 'upscale' event they're striving for, I also recommend adding small samples to make the visit more interactive, and a more comfortable ambiance (better music, and comfy seating
These small changes would transform the stop into a memorable experience and fully justify the premium pricing. Best of luck to this...
Read moreThis location is almost unbeatable except for parking. It can be a bit annoying. This lot feels very quickly, and there is a valet, but there are limited self parking spots. However, the first two hours are free with validation so if you can find a spot it will be free. Inside there are tables, but it’s more of it to go type of place that serves full and pie slices. They also have mini pies in all different sizes and shapes. They have a rotating seasonal flavor menu as well as some main stays. The service was actually very polite and quick when we arrived and we are the only ones in during our visit. It is a bit expensive for pie, but given that this is something I don’t get often I would still recommend it pricewise.
I will say that is not my favorite pie that I’ve had in Los Angeles nor is it as good as my girlfriend‘s homemade but it is still very nice. The strawberry cheesecake and the cherry pie were both very good, although not my favorites. I like how you can get a slice of pie instead of a whole so for that reason, it is a great option and I...
Read moreOrdinarily I love Winston’s apple pies. I usually get the personal size. The crust is always my favorite part.
However for Thanksgiving I ordered a whole pie. Spending more than $60 on a pie is not my usual but I don’t mind paying for what I enjoy and I wanted to share my experience with others.
The pie however was total apple sauce on the inside. I know what being overwhelmed during the holiday season is normal for bakeries and perhaps the apples weren’t cooked and turned in the pot enough and clearly cooked way too long, but the pie was a major disappointment after how I raved about it. The bottom crust was soggy and falling apart. Most of the people didn’t finish their slice, including myself. Very...
