Is this Yacht really legal to carry more than 6 passengers for hire?? If so it must be a US Coast Guard Inspected Vessel with a current Certificate of Inspection (COI) certified by the Coast Guard to carry a max number of passengers!! Before chartering this vessel you may want to check out it's legal Coast Guard status and whether it is a permitted charter Yacht in Marina del Rey with the Dept of Beaches and Harbor!! To carry even up to 6 passengers for hire the vessel must be an UPV (Unspected Passenger Vessel) so certified by the Coast Guard, otherwise the Coast Guard considers your safety to be at significant risk if neither of these Coast Guard requirements are met!!
Response to the owner: No one is trying to slander anyone or any business, but it is only to make the public aware of the Coast Guard requirements and the facts when looking to charter a vessel. The owner is slightly misguided and not 100% accurate in his statements. Any vessel that carrys "Passengers for Hire" must meet the above Coast Guard requirements, including that an UPV (Uninspected Passenger Vessel) can only carry a maximum of "6 Passengers for Hire" which is clearly indicated on the Coast Guard UPV decal that is required to be attached near the boarding location on the vessel. The only exception to these requirements which the owner correctly indicated is that of a "Bare Boat Charter" which means exactly what it says, the person only charters the boat itself without any crew. Any vessel can be chartered as a "Bare Boat", there are no additional Coast Guard requirements above those for a recreational vessel, however there are some exacting Coast Guard requirements to qualify for a "Bare Boat Charter. The owner or operator can not furnish a Captain or Crew, the person charting the "Bare Boat" selects and hires their own Captain and crew. The boat is chartered on a "Bare Boat Charter Agreement" and the person charting the vessel basically takes the place of owner and has full control of the vessel for the duration of the charter. The owner can not be aboard. A "Bare Boat" can take up to a maximum of 12 passengers, however the person charting the vessel as a "Bare Boat" can not charge any of the 12 passengers to go on the vessel, only share operational expenses, food, drink and supplies, otherwise it becomes a "Passenger for Hire" operation and nullifies the "Bare Boat" status and therefore would have to meet all the Coast Guard requirements previously indicated for "Passenger for Hire" operations. If all the qualifying "Bare Boat Charter" Coast Guard requirements are met, the Coast Guard does not consider a "Bare Boat Charter" to be a "Passenger for Hire" operation, as they consider the maximum allowed 12 passengers to be only guests of the person that "Bare Boat Chartered" the vessel. I trust this clears up any confusion regarding...
Read moreI celebrated my 40th birthday bash aboard The Legend Yacht last. I want to commend the whole crew especially Captain Steve, Michelle and Francisco for their hard work from start to finish. They helped us tremendously and made our voyage extremely enjoyable. They also made it extra special by including drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and hors d’oeuvre to celebrate my birthday. It was a very memorable 40th for me, thanks to them! Email communication was very efficient and theyre very responsive. I would highly recommend booking your...
Read moreIncredible experience! The boat is fantastic and can accommodate up to 41 people! It’s the only option we found to accommodate that many people from Marina Del Rey! It was 5 star service. No one ever had an empty drink. We brought our own champagne and tequila and food from a catering service but the light snacks and beer and wine they had was amazing also. We truly loved how professional, safe, and kind the crew and captain were. I am definitely going to be...
