Yoshinoya Spring Valley — Restaurant in California

This last visit has done it for me. Never again. The last four visits the order was screwed up. I contacted them and it took them a while but they credited what was missing. In one of my emails to them I said if this is a franchise you may want to think about taking it away. If it's a Corporate store, shame on you. This time was the most ridiculous pick up ever. Ordered on line, email said order will be ready at 8:19 PM Pulled up to the drive thru at 8:20 PM after being "greeted" that's what we'll call it. I started to say I placed an order on...... that's as far as I got. "Drive to the window" waited for someone to come to the window for 8 minutes, asked me what I ordered, I told him I don't remember the entire order, will the order number help? No. I opened the email and handed him my phone so he could see the order. Then he said oh, you ordered on the app. Asked me to drive around and park in front. At 8:49 PM someone came out with my order. This entire time I was watching cars at the drive thru pull and order and leave. I said So, what you're saying is I shouldn't place the order using the app I should just come and order here. His reply was it's only me and the other guy, I saw people ordering and leaving. I waited for this order for 35 minutes. His reply "we're giving you fresh spring rolls" I ordered them, so you usually give me old ones? then he holds up this mini cheesecake and asks if I wanted it. I said no and left. There's a 23 second video but it won't let me upload it. It's classic. We're giving you fresh spring rolls and would you like this...

You can not call in and order your food, you have to go in person or use their app. The app itself needs more work and can be on the difficult side when you first use it. We ordered two combo meals so we could try out all the different meats they have.

BBQ Beef: They did not put any BBQ sauce on it so it just ended up being a Original beef. The beef itself has a lot of fat and tendons in it.

Teriyaki Chicken: The chicken quality was fine but the teriyaki sauce itself wasn't the best or the worst. We also asked for extra sauce for this and they only drizzled a little over the chicken.

Orange Chicken: Chicken quality was fine and the orange sauce was okay as well. I was expecting them to toss the chicken in the sauce and have all of it covered, but they only drizzled a little over the chicken.

Original Beef: The taste itself was okay, but it had a lot of fat and tendons in it that I couldn't finish it.

Steam vegetables were soggy and had no flavor to them. I really enjoy steam veggies but these were gross

We ordered the not so fried rice but they ended up just giving us normal rice so I can't say how good that is. The normal rice was fine, nothing special about it. Though some parts had been left in the water too long and was extremely wet mushy (it was a really gross feeling). For a grand opening, the quality of this place is already set low. I would of giving them a pass on messing up half the order for how long the line was outside. But when I walked in, no one was running around and were taking their time. For how calm they all seemed, I wouldn't expect half the order...

Came here three times only to wait 45+ minutes in the drive thru for a single order. They really need another microwave.

3/27/2022 Update: Changed from 2 stars to 1 star. Good thing I looked at my receipt to notice they got an order wrong, and completely left another one out. I went inside to correct the orders and received the food in a longer than normal amount of time. Maybe their new microwave broke? Anyways, drove home and brought the food out. Order was wrong still. I recommend asking the employee to repeat the order back to you either at the speaker or pay window. Check your receipt still, then check your food before you leave the place.

8/21/2022 Update: I believe this place is just prone to issues every time I come here it seems. Their fryer stopped working, so I couldn't order a few times that used the fryer; every time I asked for another item it was tied to the fryer (orange chicken, shrimp, and spring rolls). Surprisingly, I was able to order the gyoza even though it's usually fried. Maybe they were desperate and ended up using the microwave this time. I did notice a Panda Express across the street when I was parked in the lot waiting for my order for roughly ~30min. If I had known a Panda Express was there I wouldn't be going...
