Del Taco — Restaurant in Calimesa

Be careful when ordering here and they try to upsell you. I came here to get a couple of burgers and some tacos for my boys. I had a BOGO burger coupon from a flyer they mailed me. I was expecting to spend about $12 dollars, $5 for the two burgers and $7 for three fish tacos. My boy asked for crunchy shells so I asked them to give us crunchy not soft tacos. Nothing was mentioned about a surcharge when customizing a fish taco to a hard shell. I decided to get a large fries for my boys to share to go along with their burger. So I'm expecting to spend $16 more or less, add tax.

So here's when the order gets FUBAR. The person on the intercom suggested I make the fish tacos into a meal, since I'm already getting fries anyway. That way we get a drink. So I decided, ok, why not, add a couple dollars extra to turn it into a combo, so at this point I'm expecting to pay $18.

When I got to the window, I got blindsided by a $25 dollar bill. Double than what I originally expected to pay. How do I end up spending MORE by converting to a combo meal?

I pay for our order just to get out of the drive thru line. I asked my boys if they put the receipt in the bag so I can check it. It was only HALF the receipt. I park and head inside to figure out what happened. The manager reprinted the full receipt, and indeed I was credited with the BOGO coupon. The person at the drive thru window came over and tried to explain why it ended up becoming more expensive WITH the combo. I was feeling my rage build up, so I just thanked them and got out of there.

This review is a cautionary tale for customers and for transparency. Be careful with SHADY upsells. Really disappointed with Del Taco. Or is it the sales practices of...

Very rude... Wanted me to use the kiosk. When I stated I needed help she said repeatedly. "use the kiosk".. I said to her if you don't want my business I will go elsewhere.. She then walked up and said what do you want. Now it appears to me the more money these people make the less they want to help you. While I was eating another woman walked in and stated she needed help with the kiosk and again the girl behind the counter her name was Camille stated use the kiosk continuously the woman got upset and left.. the manager seen all this and whispered something to Camille and they both turned around and started laughing.. after that another gentleman walked up and Camille said welcome I will take your order right here.. first of all where was my welcome when I walked in & why didnt she offer to take my order ? second fast food isn't cheap anymore so why doesn't someone take our order like before.. therefore I will not return to this Del Taco due to the rudeness I've received.. plenty of other...

Ok... so as far as food goes.... well.. its Del Taco. I don't mean that in a negative way either.... I'm just saying that you typically know what you're getting. My reason for the star rating being at 3.... is the fact that they seem to change their hours to whatever suits them... I drive for DoorDash late in the evening and this Del Taco has actually COST me money due to arriving and them being closed when the day prior they were open at the same time. I understand the whole "pandemic" thing and needing to adjust hours..... but how hard is it to update a web page or perhaps maybe its DoorDash that should be verifying a locations hours. At any rate... it sucks to drive all the way across town for 15.00 in pickups only to arrive to a closed store and only getting 3.25 due to the orders...
