King House — Restaurant in Callaway

First time trying King House tonight. At 3:30pm I called in an order of 3 combination meals and some Crab Rangoon and had my husband pick it up at 4pm. When he got home, 2 of the 3 meals were incorrect, and either they (or my husband) did not put any utensils or sauces in our togo bag. My husband said there were about 7 people in line waiting when he was there, so we decided to enjoy what we had vs. going back for what we ordered. Honestly, although our orders were not correct, the food was VERY GOOD!! I WILL try them again and hope for the best. (This was in 2019)

Update: 2023. I have been back several times and have not had ANY problems. I usually call in a togo order and go pick it up. Their House Special Lo Mein is my absolute favorite. I order it in Quart size. I also get the Chef Special General Tso Chicken, which comes with white rice. And I add on 8 egg rolls. My husband and I share and it takes us a few meals each to finish everything. I think the price is reasonable for as many meals as it makes.($40something) Now, excuse me while I go finish stuffing my face. 😆 (The photo is House Special Lo Mein, and 2 egg rolls in my personal bowl at home. This was a really disappointing experience. While my fiancé enjoyed the honey sauce on his chicken combination, the rest of our meal was disappointing. Both our shrimp with Chinese vegetables and the honey chicken came with rice that tasted stale and was inedible. My shrimp and vegetables were significantly overcooked, with hard shrimp and corn. The brown sauce on my dish also had an unusual and unpleasant flavor, unlike what I've experienced elsewhere. My fiancé also had several overcooked pieces in his meal that he couldn't eat. It's frustrating that we wasted our money on this. It seems Callaway might lack quality Chinese food options, as this is the second disappointing experience in the area, following No. 1 Asian restaurant on Tyndall Parkway. We've had much better luck at Red Star in Lynn Haven and will likely travel there for our Chinese food cravings in the future. I sincerely hope the owner takes these consistent negative reviews seriously and implements some much-needed improvements. Our experience, along with other recent one-star reviews, suggests a concerning trend. We are very disappointed...

This is my ALL TIME favorite Chinese restaurant. I have a very specific taste and flavor I like in my Chinese and they nail it! I can eat Chinese anywhere (to an extent) but nothing compares to King House. I have since moved a few places away from Callaway, and make special trips of over an hour just to get my favorites! The garlic sauce is thick and flavorful, shrimp are tails OFF and HUGE, cream cheese Rangoons are perfectly fried, lo mein actually has flavor, general tso is actually real breaded chicken with a crispy outside (not frozen boneless wings). I have never had an order messed up in 7 years and they are awesome people who are always so friendly! They recognize me no matter how long it has been since I made it back!
