Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Caln Township

i don't want to be unfair, let me start by saying that the food is always very good. tastes great and is hot. The staff are the issue. I have NEVER and I mean NEVERRRRR had a good waitress/waiter here. I've seen 2 that try. I continue to go here because its cheap and open late. I always tip 20 percent even though the waiters are TERRIBLE. This restaraunt hires trashy, rude, careless, ghetto employees. Half the people that work here either ignore you, glare at you, help you after they finish their conversation with the other staff or do their job miserably. I have LITERALLY had a waitress that would walk up to our table and stand there staring at us. no words... no introduction. not a "can i start you off with" no questions... just staring until we were like ok well um can i have a water? Last few times I was here we were ignored by the hostess. Had a waiter who messed up our drink order, forgot about our table after we got our food, messed up our check, forgot the refills that we had to track him down to even ask for. Next time... had to squeeze through the door because they employee opening the door for us couldn't end his conversation with the hostess so he was holding the door open standing in the doorway turned away from us, talking to his friend. The hostess stood there staring at us so I said hi, table for 3 please and smiled... she slowly grabbed three menus, pouted and turned around and walked us to a booth, dropped the menus and walked away. Very last time we went there we sat for 31 minutes after were were finished and just sitting there waiting... i timed it, not even kidding... 31 mins. waiting for anyone at all to ask us how our food was or refill our drink, grab us to go boxes and the check. The "manager" stood behind our table watching me glare at him. never came over. I still go here for cheap, late night food. I still tip well. I have never complained because the entire staff is terrible except for Jeremy, and the blonde girl that actually hustles. There is no point in complaining because they dont care. But... any other applebees i go to, even the lionville one which is close to thorndale has a great, normal staff. Whoever hires the thorndale staff...

Our night started off well, being seated quickly at a high top on a busy Friday night. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. It took aver 15 minutes for our waiter to come to the table at which point he took all of our drink and food orders. It took another 10 minutes for the waters to arrive and 5 more for alcohol beverages. Our appetizers came out looking and tasting great! Then our entrees came out before we were even finished. 2 servers helped to bring out our food and neither of them thought to clear the dirty appetizer plates we were scrambling to stack to make room for our entrees. Only 5 of the 6 entrees came out at that time and the sixth was more than 5 minutes late and incorrect with sides haphazardly tossed on the plate. Not at any point did our server return to the table during the meal to check up on us or ask how we were enjoying our dinner. When we notified him that we had a birthday at the table, he brought the whole staff together to sing to the guest of honor. Unfortunately, there was no room to put her dessert down because all of our dirty appetizer AND entree plates were still sitting on the table. Of the 6-8 staffers who came to sing and clap, not a one cleared a single plate. All in all, the food was satisfactory, but the service was abysmal. Would not recommend and will not...

Let's start from the beginning. When we (just a party of 2) walked in, there were three hosts/hostesses at the front having a conversation with each other and we had to wait to be acknowledged until they were finished. We were then shown to our seats; which is when we realized that we were one of two parties in the restaurant at the time. It then took roughly 10 to 15 minutes for us to even see our our waitress and for her to come over and take our order. It then took another 10 minutes for us to get our water. We eventually received our appetizer that we forgot we ordered because of how long it took and we eventually received our entrees (and mine was cold). After we finished eating and stacked our plates together, our waitress walked by us 4 times before she acknowledged us when we were trying to ask for the check. All in all, considering the fact that we were originally one of two parties and then only three other small parties (two groups of 3 and one group of 4) were seated after us, there was no reason for the service to be this terrible. I'd understand if it was busy or if they were short staffed but this wasn't the case. I mean, it was slow enough for us to be able to watch the hostess play...
