My friend and I went through the Thorndale, PA drive-thru to buy a large Oreo McFlurry for her mom, who is home recovering from a severe shoulder injury today (10/29/2022). And she wanted it to comfort her, upon returning home from Urgent Care. We also ordered a large coke for my friend. She really wanted to purchase one of the Halloween Happy Meals, since it has the 3 Halloween Happy Meal buckets as a special promotion this year. I was driving, so I asked what bucket options did they have available, because my friend wanted the pumpkin 🎃 one since she has a couple of the Witch 🧙♀️ & the Ghost 👻 buckets already. She was very disappointed because the female employee said they're not doing the promotion anymore. Which we didn't understand why, because McDonald's stated that their promotion runs through the end of October. We ended up not purchasing the happy meal because of this. I mean if a hugely well-known & worldwide corporation is going to promote something, then they should stand by that, or not offer it at all. We're huge Halloween fans!! And we had just left Highland Orchards, after spending the day enjoying all of the Fall festivities (hayrides, cornmaze, etc.) with our friend and her 3 children. And we were really looking forward to stopping at this specific McDonald's for the Halloween happy meal bucket, since all of the other's my friend has gone too only had the witch & ghost. The young female drive-thru employee didn't even sound happy (no pun intended) to be there working. Which isn't exactly a good thing when you're working/communicating at the drive-thru, and also collecting the money at the 1st window. Almost all the other McDonalds locations in our area seem to always have happy/pleasant employees. I don't know, maybe she was having a bad day?? Perhaps the manager should've had her working in another area if she's having a bad day & not at a very busy drive-thru. We left feeling like we really do not want to return to this location. However, I will say the young male at the 2nd window, handing over our order was...
Read moreHere right now at 10:30 on a Friday night and the door's lock! There are customers inside, some leaving, but you can't get in. The drive-thru is open and the line is all the way around the building! It says online that they're open until 1:00 am. Perhaps, the eat-in part close at 10:30 pm and then only the drive-thru stay open?
Last week, I was told that they don't serve biscuit breakfast sandwiches all day, yet, I had gotten one the afternoon before. Two days later, I bought a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit there at 8:00 at night. Tonight, the biscuits are off the menu again! What is going on with this place? You never know from one day to the next what you can buy to eat! I don't appreciate driving all the way to the Thorndale McDonald's only to find that I can't get the only thing on the menu I eat. Had I known, I would have driven just a little further to the Coatesville McDonald's to get our dinner, instead! Although, this place is generally not preferable to us.
The service at the Thorndale McDonald's is always friendly and courteous, though. The food we receive is always exactly what we order, as well. That's why we choose to frequent this McDonald's! For some reason, they're always short-staffed, primarily at night, it seems. So, I definitely give the people who work there credit for their accuracy, congenitally, and ability to work under pressure. They can't possibly be paid enough for what they do!
A week or two ago, we noticed that the french fry orders had gotten smaller. Perhaps, the company is having the employees cut back on portion sizes. My kid's medium fries used to be over flowing. Everyone's had those extra fries end up in the bottom of the bag! Not anymore. An order of fries barely fills that red box. I don't know if it's happening at other locations, too, or if...
Read moreThis McDonalds is much improved as compared to a few years ago when they never seemed to get orders done right, and customers waited in line for way too long. Now things are better, although not at the level of Chick-fil-A. At this McDonalds, some of their workers who take the money, still have trouble figuring out the change, and at the next window where you get your food they haven't mastered the idea of being friendly with the customers. Again, it's a big improvement compared to before, but they still have a little ways to go. I'll give them 4 stars for the effort. Update: they are back to getting orders wrong. If you use their Drive-Thru, you need to check your order very closely because they probably shorted you, or they gave you a different item. Apparently filling a simple fast-food order is super complicated, just like building rockets that go to the Moon. It's so complex, and so involved, I suppose we shouldn't expect a fast food restaurant to put everything you ordered into the bag. Here's a suggestion: Instead of the customer paying first, how about we pay AFTER the food order is filled correctly, and if it's not filled correctly, then the store...
