Council Oak Steaks and Seafood — Restaurant in Calumet Township

We started our dinner with Wedge Salad, Chopped Salad, and French Onion Soup. All were delicious and highly recommended. We skipped other appetizers and good thing - the salads are large! We ordered 2 Filet Mignon and a Bone-in Filet Mignon. The Chopped Salad does have delightfully spicy red peppers, if that’s your thing. All were delicious and perfectly done. We also ordered side dishes: Creamed Spinach, Duck Fat Hash Browns, and Loaded Baked Potato. All were warm, fresh and delicious. the side dishes are large and shareable. The baked potato definitely falls into the massive category. Bacon (on the salads and with the baked potato) here is no tiny bacon bits from a bag. This is more like thick slices of pork belly. Flavorful indeed. Decent wine options - enjoyed Cabernet Sauvignon and a Margarita. All were good.

Lovely atmosphere, within but separated from the casino. Comfortable and quiet. Recommend making reservations and requesting one of the delightful roomy U-shaped booths.

Service was wonderful. Server was happy to move at the pace we wanted to. Water glasses were never empty. The delicious Parkerhouse rolls and butter replenished as desired. Empty/dirty dishes promptly removed.

The positives: the bread, salads and potatoes au gratin were all very good. Our server Samantha was very friendly and professional. The main entree and desert however were extremely disappointing. My skirt steak was chewy making it inedible, and my husband’s sea bass was overcooked. We had dinner reservations at 6:30 and we were still waiting for our entre at 8:10. The deserts took another 20 minutes. It was very clear that all the “comped” tables around us were given high priority. The table next to us and behind us sometimes had two staff fawning over them while we were left unattended most of the evening ( again, Samantha was very sweet but just had too many tables to tend to). Finally, when I made the reservation on Open Table over a month ago, I wrote we were celebrating my husband’s bday. I called today to confirm res and verified that they knew it was his bday. When I arrived, while my husband was parking, I again verified that they knew it was his bday. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Council Oaks Steakhouse & Seafood, located at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana. I must say, I was blown away by the overall dining experience.

As someone who enjoys a good steak and seafood, I was not disappointed. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the seafood was fresh and flavorful. The sides were also great and complemented the main dishes well.

The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a nice dinner out. The lighting was dimmed just enough to create a cozy atmosphere, and the decor was stylish and modern.

Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made great recommendations for wine pairings. The service was quick and efficient, but we never felt rushed.

Although the prices were on the higher side, I found that they were justified by the quality of the food and the overall experience. It was definitely worth it.
