Harry's Long Bar — Restaurant in Calumet Township

It's been many years since I was in there and ideally the atmosphere has changed. But if you're looking for a place where it is a relaxed and social environment, this is not your place.

Before even being able to finish my first drink, I was being confronted by other customers with hostility regarding strange issues. They appeared to be regulars and they were extremely intoxicated and profoundly overserved. I was coming from an event where I worked in the neighborhood and was wearing a suit. And I'm not sure if that got people triggered for some reason.

The staff seemed to be extremely hostile themselves and we're not stepping in but rather propagating this behavior.

Customers were making very strong efforts to divide myself and the female company that I came with to the point that when we were trying to exit due to this environment and because we no longer could enjoy ourselves, they decided to step in and say maybe she doesn't want to leave and doesn't want to leave with me. If it wasn't so potentially threatening, it could have been almost funny.

I hope this environment has changed and perhaps it has, but that was my experience. The visit was years back before they had these type of sites to leave reviews like this. So it's only now that I'm relaying this experience and maybe if I were to visit again, the experience would be entirely different.

I no longer work in Blue Island so it's unlikely I'll be back. But I'd like to think it's different. I should add that it was also fairly late at night and that could have been all the difference. Being that people perhaps had been drinking all night. There or maybe even somewhere else.

Last note... the customers were all trying to instigate a fight by physically stepping between myself and the young lady that I worked with and came in with. It seemed they were trying to do everything they could to try to get a reaction out of me. Who knows.

As I approached the counter to place my order, I was met with Raunati who appeared untrained and unaware of customer service. Her inability to answer basic questions about the products left me frustrated and confused. It was evident that no effort had been made to provide proper training or customer service skills to the staff. Unfortunately, the disappointment did not end there. When my order finally arrived, it was evident that the quality of the product was subpar. The presentation lacked finesse, and the taste fell short of even average standards. It was clear that little attention had been given to maintaining consistent quality or delivering a satisfying experience to customers. To make matters worse, when I attempted to address my concerns with Raunati, I was met with indifference and a dismissive attitude. They showed no willingness to acknowledge or rectify the issues, further highlighting their lack of professionalism. In conclusion, my experience at this establishment was nothing short of a letdown.
