Nephew's Steak & Hoagy — Restaurant in Calumet Township

Update: almost 10 years later we are still eating at Nephews getting their amazing food..sweet chicken Philly is our fave along with their turkey hoagie..cant forget to get their sauce on the fries..amazing can't stress it enough and their lemon pepper seasoned chicken wings are the best around..keep up the great work Nephews! Ps..their sweet peppers are like none other..often imitated never duplicated!! Thank uou for keeping your food consistent!

My hubby and I eat here every weekend, literally! Great service and even better food, their Philly cheesesteak is the best I've ever had and their fries are our fav, they are handcut and everything their is fresh to order, most definitely get their mild sauce on the fries! Nephews food is sooo good that it tastes the same reheated, even the fries and fries never taste good reheated! I would give Nephews 10 stars if I could! I could go on for days about their food but one word to sum it up would be AMAZING😁👍 Thank you for always serving great food and fast...

I want to give them 5 stars but my reason is very simple. I'm a Chicagian and still live in IL. Of course Home of the Hoagy and Taurus are the places to go for a good sweet steak. So my expectations were high from the get go. I work out in Merrillville so I came across Nephews. Ordered the sweet steak, sweet and hot. The difference with Nephew is they use Gardiner peppers instead of jalapeños so it gives it a different taste. Now, with that being said it was good but not my cup of tea. Would I order it again, maybe. Now the 4 star review is because the young lady that took my order suggested I get the chicken wings and it was special day. Hi...I loved Nephews back when he was located on Cleveland, back when the owner was the cook. The chicken was the best Ive tasted, fried hard just phenomenal. I insisted on everyone going to try them out. I didnt even mind the price. I visited Nephews on Sat 7/11/20, I ordered my usual a steak hoagie and 10 wings. I dont get to Gary often and I needed my fix Lol. I received my order and was very dissatisfied the hoagie was good, but the chicken wings were soft and salty, even the fries were soggy and salty. Since I dont live close anymore Instead of returning for a refund, I just tossed it. I should have checked before I left, but usually the food there is always on point. Hope that was just...
